1. Listen carefully

To start with, listen carefully. Songs always have a meaning to it. A song may be slow, fast or rock; they all will have a meaning. Once you hear a song & imbibe the meaning in your soul your actions will look more meaningful. Try figuring out the structure of the song, anticipate what will come next.

Try visualizing the moves & dance in your imagination. Your imaginary movements will define the actual movements.

Find a song which you like the most & go with the flow. When you have a song, try searching for more versions of it.

2. Search for your favorite dancers

Once you have your song, search for your favourite dancers. Videos are a great source of inspiration & multiple dance moves. You can, in fact, mix & match from other videos to fit in your song. The same song genre can be used for other song dancing moves as well.

Break down videos into the first part second part & third part. In this way, you can practice small portions & master them with ease.

3. Prepare a dance notebook

Noting down your favourite dance moves from each event or dance parties can help you out. Whenever you see a new move you can jot down in your notebook & save it for later.

Not only noting it down, but you should also practice those moves after the class. Bollywood dance school in Mumbai teach a variety of dancing styles, & with so many dance moves at the same time can confuse you. A brief description of your moves in the notebook can serve as a reminder in case you want to get back to it.

4. Solo choreography

Not all the time you’ll have a dance partner. You need to learn some moves as solo as well. Keep doing them & try adding some variations to it. Try some of these moves:

  • Start on downbeats

Imbibing music into your soul is by learning an instrument. When you learn an instrument, you induct rhythm in your body. With rhythm comes connection to the feel of the song & it defines your moves.

8. Travel often

Traveling to various destinations can actually increase your knowledge of dancing. You see a lot of people; learn about their culture & different cultures have different dance forms.
