Get Certified as an Ethical Hacker

Author: Eloise Eshman

I was stumped. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my professional life. Going from one job to another I thought I would never find my calling. I have my degree in biology, I am a qualified SCUBA instructor, I have travelled and lived in different countries around the world, from Asia to Europe. Nothing ever really fit. But now all my friend shave found the job that they can tolerate and make a decent living, but going from one career to the next made me not only undesirable to a lot of companies but also not overly qualified for anything except various entry level positions that could not support my current lifestyle.

That was when I came across an ad. I thought nothing of it at first, just one of those things that kept popping up on my Facebook feed. I would scroll past but for some reason it stuck in my mind. An Ethical Hacker? What was that and how could I turn my above average computer skills into a career that I loved? I did some investigation, looked into some courses and even did a few free online introductions into the career that would soon be mine.

I can now say that in my late twenties I have found my calling. An Ethical Hacker is so much more than it seems. In this day and age of computers being an integral part of our every day lives hackers, or 'black hat' hackers as they are known become an increasing threat. The last thing that you want for your business is to have all of your confidential information compromised. We have seen it with big companies like SONY and the like, but this is where Ethical Hackers come into play.

There are plenty of online course out there that will teach you everything you need to know, all the programs that you need to work. Every thing you could possibly need to succeed in this industry. Not only that, but this is a role that EVERY business needs. You can work freelance with many different companies or under the supervision of an employer. Being an Ethical Hacker, or 'white hat' hacker, will open up so many doors for you and the pay is not too shabby at all.

This is not a get rick quick scheme. It is hard work. There are a lot of hours put into this but that freedom to work for yourself and be your own boos, while also making enough to live comfortably is a major draw for this kind of work. It will take a little time and money to set up, but once you get into your course the possibilities are endless.

So, this is what I chose to do. I thought that it would be overly technical. I have seen the type of work that programmers go through and what kind of computer knowledge is needed for them to be successful, but the step by step structure of most courses out there will give you the skills you need to not only pass your exams but move forward into the world of Ethical Hacking.
