You can check the EPF balance by going for online or offline methods as you like. Checking your EPF balance is fairly simple if you make sure you have your UAN number registered. Here are a few ways to check your EPF Balance: Online: EPF website Logging in to the official EPF portal- www.epfindia.gov.in can get you started in checking your EPF balance. On the website, you can print a copy of your EPF passbook or download a soft copy of the same. Umang app Government has created a centralized app for all employees to easily check their EPF balance with the Umang app. You will need a smart phone. It can be downloaded from the App store and Play Store. Passbook is made available on the app which can be downloaded. With SMS, placement of characters is vital as it is received robotically. This is the format to be followed- EPFOHO UAN ENG Say, your UAN is 123456789000 and the language you want to opt for is English, the SMS that you need to send is- "EPFOHO 123456789000ENG". The first three letters of the language will be used to denote your chosen language. For example- ENG for English, MAR for Marathi. EPFO offer its SMS facility in a number of regional languages.
Missed Call One of the faster ways to check EPF is by sending a missed call. Being registered on UAN portal is important to access information via SMS. Sending a missed call on 011-22901406 will ensure that your EPF balance information reaches you quickly. 1. EPFO offers its SMS facility in the following languages – English Hindi Gujarati Punjabi Marathi Kannada Malayalam Tamil Telugu Bengali Note that this facility can be used only if your UAN is active and seeded with your Aadhaar, Bank Account and PAN. If you have not seeded your UAN with the above mentioned documents, first you have to complete the eKYC with UAN. Loanbaba is a direct lender of this product. How to Transfer Your EPF Balance into New Account? When a person switches his job, he has the option to either withdraw his EPF balance or transfer it to the EPF account generated by his new employer. It is advised to transfer the EPF Balance rather than withdrawing it as the latter triggers tax deduction at source if the employment period (with an EPF registered employer) is less than 5 years. The accumulated amount in your EPF account can be transferred into your new account through the UAN Member Portal.
