What is the working principle of the transformer?

There are a number of power transformer manufacturing companies in India. Not only the manufacturing companies are present, but also there are very famous electrical transformer dealers and suppliers in Hyderabad and among those transformer dealers in Hyderabad, Vajra transpower is considered as the best transformer dealer in Hyderabad. For providing effective transformers, we deeply concentrate on the working principle of the transformer and according to the principle, only our manufacturers manufacture the transformers. So let’s know what the working principle of the transformer is.

A transformer based upon a simple fact and that is electricity. When a fluctuating current (AC current) flows through metal or wire, it creates a magnetic field or magnetic flux all around the metal wire. The strength of the magnetic flux density is directly proportional to the size of the electric current. That means, the bigger the current, the stronger is the magnetic field. When the magnetic field fluctuates around the metal wire, it creates an electric current in the wire. So, if we put a second coil of wire near to the first one and send a fluctuating electric current (AC current) into the first coil, we will generate an electric current in the second wire. The current produced in the first coil is known as primary current and the current produced in the second coil is known as the secondary current. Passing the electric current through empty space from primary coil to secondary coil is known as electromagnetic induction since the induced current in the primary coil also induced current in the secondary coil. By working on this principle, the electrical transformer manufacturer in Hyderabad manufactures the high standard transformers. Vajra transpower is now considered as an efficient step up and step down transformer manufacturer in India. So let’s know the working principle of step up and step down transformer.

Step down transformers:

If the turns of the primary coil are more than the turns in the secondary coil, then the secondary voltage is smaller than the primary voltage. This is the working principle of the step- down transformer. As a low voltage power transformer manufacturer, we follow the following principle:

Secondary voltage (VS) ÷ Primary voltage (Vp)= Number of turns in secondary(ns) ÷ Number of turns in primary (np)

In a step-down transformer:

Secondary current (IS) ÷ Primary current (IP)= Number of turns in primary (np) ÷ Number of turns in secondary (ns)

Step-up transformers

As a high voltage transformer manufacturer we reverse the situation of the step down transformer while making step up transformer, that boosts a low voltage into a high one:

This time, we have more number of turns on the secondary coil than the primary. In this case:

Secondary voltage (VS) ÷ Primary voltage (Vp) = Number of turns in secondary (ns)÷ Number of turns in primary (np)

and

Secondary current (IS) ÷ Primary current (IP) = Number of turns in primary (np) ÷ Number of turns in secondary (ns)

Considering both step-down and step-up transformers, it's a rule that the coil having the more number of turns has the highest voltage, while the coil having the less number of turns has the highest current.
