Launch of ACCESS Project in Pakistan
Getting education is basic right and need of every human being in this world. Education is the most essential need of this time. Still, there are many areas in different countries where there is no concept of education and there is not even a single school in those areas. The inhabitants of those areas are unaware of the fact that education is their basic right, they should demand for it.
At present about 22.63 million children all over the county are out of school. If we talk about province-wise then about 1.1 million kids are not enrolled in any school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) only and are unable to avail their education right. Many of these are the kids who live in areas where there is dangerous for kids to go school due to security issues or from households that are too poor to afford the basic education. The most effecting factor that affects the kid’s education is sudden political chaos, and this is particularly true for girls of those areas.
To improve the quality of education and to provide better and advanced education to everyone across the country is the main purpose of ACCESS (Access for Out of School Children to Education and Safe Schools in Pakistan). To make school a better place for children to learn and to groom them into a fine person, also to facilitate them with every possible facility for their betterment. Ne facility in schools will be available for students for their assignments, home work etc. and for their online results too, as the result of 9th class 2019 is going to be announced in August 2019.
Bajaur, Mohmand, Bannu, D.I.Khan, Orakzai, Swat, Khyberand Peshawar are the 8 districts in which it has been implemented. It is being implemented in many other tribal districts of KP too.
One of the many aims of ACCESS is to expand the access to school for more than 81,469 kids (in which mostly are girls) who are either at risk of dropping out of the school or they already have left the school. On the basis of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) guidelines, these out of school students are selected. Most of the times these out of school children are the off springs of families of temporary displaced persons (TDP), returnees coming back to the areas of displacement, registered Afghan refugees, people returning to places of their origin or undocumented Afghans in host communities.
ACCESS will provide access to education especially for out of school children (OOSC), will strengthen the quality of the education in Emergencies (EiE), give capacity building, recruitment and hiring of new staff, protection for teachers and make connection between education and other life-saving humanitarian sectors, including WASH and nutrition. ACCESS will provide all of these in order to minimize the susceptibility of kids who are badly affected by threats and violence.
The European Union objectives0 to assist kids affected by humanitarian crises to have access to safe, satisfactory, and authorized primary and secondary education. In this project the European Union is operating carefully together with different companions (communities, authorities, HOPE 87 and donors) to growth the enrolment of students. For the peace, balance and economic growth of Pakistan it is an investment in their long-term future.
The expected results of this project are to i) make 868 offices with better quality learning conditions, ii) improve learning results for 72,531 students (most of them of which are girls), especially in early evaluations proficiency and numeracy; iii) increment the number and viability of 1,020 instructors; iii) set up 7,650 school the board panels for advancing young girls training and attempting to address school security, iv) fortify the limit of 50 government staff for school debacle the board and training in crises and v) connect with 510 networks to seek after nearby answers for young ladies' training.
In a roundabout way, the project will profit 480,000 individuals through the effect that better instructed and well groomed young girls have on networks through raising health and training levels, giving social services to ladies at local level, just as making a stronger educator accomplice.
So as to build the school enrolment of young kids and reduce the drop-out rate the task will work firmly together with networks.. This includes discussions with community elders, delegates and men or ladies from more extensive network to pick up network endorsement and responsibility for thought of opening a network school; bolster networks in choosing or Mohalla Committee (MC) or Village Education Committee (VEC) including men and women.
European Commission Humanitarian Aid for Civil Protection (ECHO), National Commission for Human Development (NCHD)/Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF) and Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) has funded ACCESS. HOPE’87 is an Austrian INGO and taking lead in implementation of ACCESS project and NCHD/ESEF is field implementing partner for this project. The project duration is 24 months starting from April 2019 till March 2021.
