How do I find the right E27 LED-bulb?
What is an E27 bulb?
The E27 bulb is one of the most common bulb we have in our homes today. It’s also known as the Edison bulb with big screw socket (27 millimeters). E27 refers to the socket, the fastening which you screw into your lighting appliance. A bulb with an E27-socket will always have the same base but the shape of the bulb can, of course, differ.
What does the E27 bulb look like?
If you imagine the shape of an old incandescent bulb you're on the right track. Today this is only one of the different shapes of the E27-bulb. It is available in the shape of pear, ball, globe, stick, candle, tubular, PAR and more. They can be used in every room in your home, in hotels and restaurants. Because of LED-technology, today we have a huge selection of retro styled LED E27 bulbs. They have different shapes, coloured or clear finishes and visible filaments, just like the old incandescent bulb. In the filter to the leftt you can choose what shape you want for your E27 bulb.
Do you want to switch to E27 LED bulbs?
If you want to switch to LED-bulbs it is important that you know which wattage your current bulb is using. Previously watt was equal to visible light. This is not accurate with LED-bulbs. When choosing your LED-bulb it is more important to make a choise after the number of lumen in other words; how much light it produces. Use the filter on the left side of the page to choose the right E27 LED bulb. After that you might also want to choose the prefered color temperature.
The E27 bulbs are available in different colour temperatures
Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin and indicates what the colour tone the light has. It ranges from a low colour temperature, which has a warm glowing light with a lot of red in it, to a high colour temperature which has a cold light with a lot of blue in it. An old incandescent light bulb had a colour temperature of 2700K, a very warm white light. E27 led bulb warm white

They are! You can also make sure you by a dimmable bulb by choosing it in the filter on the left side. With dimmable bulbs the brightness of the light can be controlled. When dimming the light the brightness decreases. This is especially good if you want to have dynamic lighting in your home. Dimmable lights also allows for lower energy consumption since the bulb requires less light.
But it doesn’t end there. There is a bulb which you can dim the colour temperature, not (only) its brightness. This is possible with the Philips Dimtone and the Glowdim from Osram. You can dim the colour temperature from a warm white light of 2700K down to a warm glowing light of 2200K. With the same bulb you can create ambient light for relaxed Friday evenings to a functional warmer white for reading and hobbies.
