What should one for doing charity? The person should first locate needy and poor people and then make a concrete plan to develop living conditions of those people. Giving money to beggars can’t be charity as it doesn’t improve social and economic condition of beggars.

Muslims are bound by their religion to do charity and they have found a unique way of utilizing the money meant for helping poor and needy. They have formed Muslim charity organizations to help families, individuals and everyone that needs help.

What these organizations do?

Their job is to find ways to improve living conditions of poor families. These groups open schools, start income generating projects, sponsor orphans, provide medical aid and dig wells and do other jobs necessary for a decent life. Some groups are as big as multinational companies. They have presence in every country and they work with the help of a large workforce.

Where from funds come from?

Funds come from able Muslims. They share their profits and earnings with their brothers and sisters that have nothing to eat and wear. The funds are collected in the name of help and the funds are used to help others. Not a single penny from this fund is used in personal development. A credible group would never touch the fund meant for helping poor and needy for buying luxuries for its employees and managers.

Management of funds

Extensive record of spending is maintained and comprehensive details of every project are kept. Detailed plans of development work are made and the plans are thoroughly discussed before the execution starts. These steps help in saving money.

The groups try saving money by working on tight budget. Their objective is to invest each penny on development work and not on unnecessary things. Fund collected under charity is for help and not for spending on study tours and buying equipments.

There are many Muslim charity organizations and most groups are doing good job. But some groups are working the other way. They use funds for specific gains like developing a specific area and leaving others. Also there are groups that work for personal benefit.

Some groups are utilizing the charity funds for personal and political gains and not for helping others. It is up to the donors to decide whether to give donation to a political group or to a true charity group. Donation must for charity work and not for personal or professional gains.
