Fashion is for Fun feat. the Durimel Twins

Author: Clayton Jackson

Alex and I'd only driven from NYC to Los Angeles when we achieved the Durimel twins. My late grandma's Impala was however full of hiking equipment and dusted with mud from our cross-country street trip. But we did it. We had eventually arrived. This was our new house, even though we only realized a handful of person between the 2 of us.

That evening we met Jilan and Jibril Durimel; 2 fun-loving and uber-stylish friends from Paris who were hosting a Road Type Images show at a gallery on Melrose. It absolutely was our first "style event" on the West coast, therefore we'd no thought things to expect. Once we walked in to the celebration it had been straight away apparent that individuals were not in NYC anymore. The hosts themselves greeted us making use of their large contagious smiles, presented us for some of these friends, and provided us something to drink. It was a stark comparison to the typical uppity, somewhat pompous, somewhat stand-offish attitude that we've come to expect from several NYC style events.

Two to three weeks later Alex and I set up a period to visit the twins at their apartment in East Hollywood, which just therefore happened to be five full minutes from our new house in SilverLake. Their house is easy and small, as you would assume from 2 20-year-old European picture pupils who live on a budget and don't spend a lot of time at home.

Jalan is lighthearted and generally breaking jokes, often trying to interact his brother and rev up his absurd side. Jibril can also be high in laughs, yet offers subtle tips to a more severe side. They are undoubtedly close friends, and they do every thing together. They even sleep in the exact same space and reveal a cellphone. They stored their numbers as just "Durimel" in my telephone, which is really a small puzzling since I never know which 1 I am speaking to. I do believe it's a sport they play, however probably it doesn't matter – Durimel is a brandname, an artistic, and a life style they have created. And menswear brands are slowly just starting to take notice of their talent and innovative influence on the small fashion-conscious crowd in LA.

What I like most about their tendency is they've enjoyment using their apparel and do not take themselves also seriously. Many of their outfits are from classic stores or fast-fashion brands like Cool cufflinks, American Attire or H&Michael, yet they use it all together in ways that's vibrant, strong, and uniquely their own.

I am maintaining a watch on these elegant bloggers/photographers/film students. They're 2 of the very most impressive small men we've achieved, and I think they've what it takes (a mix of ability, vision and personality) to become respectable influencers on the up-and-coming plant of West coast creatives.

Here is some photographs Alex shot during our hang-out with them, along with a few of my favorite shots/look from their site, wherever they openly "observe the strange and unusual".

Always check them out, if for nothing otherwise, to give you some vintage buying enthusiasm and some ideas about introducing new shade gradients in to your wardrobe.
