In the Need for a Grand Wedding: 10 Jewellery Shopping Tips
There is nothing extravagant that I can say about marriages.
You already know everything there is to know about its importance, and you’re already floating on the feeling.
So I am just going to back off and not stretch this any more than it has to be.
It’s no secret that you want to stand out, be the prettiest you have ever been, and glow like the stars on a clear night.
Clothes, jewellery, shoes, makeup and hair, all of it needs to be on fleek.
I was wondering if you might need a little help with your jewellery, so I went ahead and compiled a list of 10 tips that I thought might work in your favour.
Let’s not become a bridezilla, okay?
Here we go!
1. Match You Hair and Ears
Before you go shopping for your jewellery, make sure you have a hairstyle set in your mind and then pick out your necklace and earrings considering this look. If you’re just beginning your search, then make sure that you have alternate options, either for your hairstyle or jewellery.
2. Slightest of Colours
For any of your wedding occasions, I don’t care what kind of jewellery you pick, but do not go for colourful pieces. I understand that everybody has their own thing and style, but too many colours on your jewellery might even be considered a crime by the fashion police.
Trust me on this one.
3. Appropriately Sized Maang Tikka
You must have seen that maang tikkas are taking over the fashion industry once again and it’s happening for all the right reasons. But listen, just because it’s your wedding doesn’t mean you go crazy on the size of this maang tikka.
If you have a smaller forehead, then pick out a tikka that does not take over your entire head and face. It’s just an accessory; the focus should be on your eyes and smile, not on the maang tikka.
4. The Classic Touch
I’m not going to throw a cliche on you and say what you’re thinking I’m going to say. Indians are super into traditional attires for the bride, and if you want to please your in-laws or grandparents, then wear a jewellery piece from your mother’s wardrobe. I am sure taking this step would also make your mother happy.
See if there is anything that works with your attire, only then wear classic jewellery.
5. Nose Ring Drama
Nose rings are a great way to add a certain level of drama to your outfit. I mean that certainly is the modern reason behind wearing a glamorous nose ring. The shape of your nose, face, and eyes will all determine the kind of nose ring that would suit you. Along with that, you must see to it that your personality shines through the exquisite nose ring you pick.
6. Waistbands are In
I have seen a lot of people sporting the waistband, whether it is in Indian attire or while boasting a western look. Imagine yourself in a slim gold waistband that goes over your dupatta. A word of advice, you don’t have to invest in real gold. You could have a beautiful cloth with intricate gold work done on it, for the feel of a real waistband. It will make you look slimmer in your wedding pictures and enhance the entire look and feel of your outfit.
7. Light or Heavy?
You want to make sure that your earrings are light in weight but look appropriately heavy for the wedding. They need to complement your outfit and rest of the jewellery. You’re going to be wearing these earrings for at least 5 hours, and at the end of it all, you do not want your ears to fall off, I’m sure. The more comfortable you are, the more you’re going to be able to enjoy your wedding.
8. Add an Armband
Any bride that wears a piece of jewellery around their arm will automatically be considered at being modern, but traditional at the same time. An ensemble of gold and gemstones or diamonds and pearls, the armband is a super chic way to make your outfit look royal. Make sure that your armband is neither too tight nor too loose, just enough to make you feel comfortable throughout the ceremony.
9. Anklets are Necessary
While this piece of jewellery may not be seen all the time, but it certainly adds glamour to your outfit. Payal, as popularly known in India can be found in a variety of designs with anklet bells or ghungroo. The sound that your feet will make as you take your phera will stun everyone.
The ultimate decision is in your hands. If you want to wear a particular design made in particular metal, then go for it.
You want to feel pretty and comfortable on your big day, and I understand that.
Trends will come and go, but your beauty will stay forever.
Have all your photographs show the happiness that you are carrying with you.
I wish to see you be the most beautiful bride this wedding season, and the most satisfied one as well.
