Save Your Food Business!! - Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

The paramountcy of consumer safety can never be ignored in any industry. This quality assumes far greater importance in the food industry, laxity at which can endanger lives. To prevent disasters, domestic and international authorities such as the FDA, EPA, etc., have regulated the food industry heavily.

The aim of these regulations, as can be understood, is to maintain consumer safety. Failure at implementation of these regulations are, quite understandably, met with stern consequences. When a player in the food industry is proven to be responsible for a manmade disaster such as ill-health or death, the regulatory agencies come down every heavily on it.

A company that fails to meet the regulatory requirements set out by these agencies can invite recalls and fines and other penalties, which can be irrevocable. The degree of penalties goes up exponentially proportionate to the magnitude of the error. Such companies also suffer an irredeemable dent to their reputation, something that could prove costlier than any other penalty. Yet, many companies in the food industry do not understand the seriousness of the issue, as a result of which many have failed to set up a disaster response mechanism.
