Exploring With A Trek

Reaching the base camp, exploring the Everest region, mountains and more with trekking is one of the most popular and common ways. There are lots of trekkers coming for this trek in every high trekking season. This trek has 3 different entries such as from Jiri and Salleri with driving and Lukla with a short flight.

Trekking from Jiri and Salleri takes around 3 weeks but from Lukla can be done in 2 weeks all the way to the base camp and back to Kathmandu. If you wish only to see the Everest and don’t care about reaching the base camp, you only can go up to Tengboche which is one week trek.

Trekking is a physical work so you need to be well trained but if you are not trained for a hike, you can take a scenic mountain flight or a helicopter flight tour to the Everest.

Taking A Scenic Mountain Flight

If you are looking for the fastest and cheapest option to see Mt. Everest, you can take a scenic flight from Kathmandu. You can see lots of mountains with this flight such as Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gauri Shanker and the Tibetan massif. This is a couple of hours flight tour from Kathmandu airport to Kathmandu airport.

There are many flights every day in the morning operating by several airline companies. This is a tour with a plane having single sitting seats and flies both directions so all the people from the plane will be able to see the mountains well. It costs you around 250 USD with the cost of the airport transport from your hotel to hotel. If the weather would not good, the flights are not operating and if you see nothing from the flight, you will get back your money 100% deducting the cost of airport transport. This flight is not a landing tour so you can’t land on the mountain once you depart from Kathmandu. If you would like to land somewhere on the mountain and see Himalaya from a closer distance, you need to take a helicopter flight tour.

Reaching To The Base Camp On A Helicopter

The best and quickest way to reach the base camp and explore Everest Himalaya from a close distance is flying with a helicopter. The Everest base camp helicopter tour is also known as a landing helicopter tour. Once you fly from Kathmandu, you will have several landings on the mountain. It is a sharing flight tour so 5 people can fly at one time from Kathmandu until the Everest view hotel then divide into 2 groups to Kala Patthar and Base camp.

First group about 2 or 3 people will fly at one time to Kala Pathar from the Everest view hotel and rest will enjoy the panoramic view with hot drinks and breakfast in the Everest view hotel. The people who fly in the first lot, will land on Kala Patthar and take some beautiful photos then fly over the base camp and glacier to come back to the Everest view hotel. So, now the second lot will do the same as the first one and fly back to Kathmandu all together.
