The Major Role of DNS behind the Internet

Author: Tom Steven

Nobody can ignore the power of the Internet. It is actually the internet only which is being used by many people every day around the world. Because of its usage only, internet has proved its significance role in many fields. But have you ever thought that the internet that controls most of our work is controlled by whom? Well, it is Domain Name System who manages and controls the internet. Yes, these three letters seem to be very small but they have a very vast definition in them. It is a full form of the DNS. Another name is a Domain Name Server or Service.

The primary function of a DNS is to translate the domain names into IP addresses of each website that a user wants to browse. For instance: the domain name www.google.com will be translated into the IP address 209.85.135.103 so that, it can be easily understandable by both (humans and computers).

Actually our brain catches words and letters very well but when it comes to remember the digits may not be so much reliable. Same is the case with a system; a system understands only give binary language i.e. in the form of 0 and 1 but can’t trace the letters.

A user may open an N number of websites that means the DNS has to do the same work again and again for each new website which the user wishes to visit. Thus, it does not matter that what is the speed of your internet connection; a website will not be loaded until the DNS performs its service successfully.

The DNS works like a phone book. Let’s suppose if you wish to contact a person but you just know his name then you can look for his name in the phone book and get his contact number. The DNS offers the same service in an internet connection.

The job of the domain name system is quite complicated and difficult to do so it takes helps from the other servers that mean DNS has a network of servers. Whenever a user enters any domain name it first tries to locate it in the first server. If suppose the first server is unable to get the IP address then it passes the query to the other one and so on until it gets an accurate IP address.

Across the globe there may be many companies that provide the services of the domain name system. These services can be very much reliable or affordable. There are many features or services that a DNS vendor may provide to its clients, some of them are given below:

  • Assurance of 100% uptime
  • Highest
Dns speeds

  • Instant updating of domain name system
  • The best resolution platform
  • Totally managed and controlled network

These services and features of domain name system can be varied from vendor to vendor. Hence, choose the service according to the requirement, budget, speed, updating time and features.
