Photographing babies can one of the most rewarding things in life – the act of catching that perfect click of babies after coaxing a few expressions of joy on their faces.

Here are some simple steps and tips that one can follow to help them take perfect pictures of babies:

Click away

Babies tend to be very unpredictable, and tantrums and tears can be expected. So, don’t be hesitant to keep shooting pictures rather than just waiting for the baby to give that perfect moment or pose – somewhere in the 30- 40 consecutive shots, you will get a winner.

Presuming that you have ample natural daylight condition, you should choose 100 – 400 ISO, along with a wide aperture (f/2.9 – f/8) for a shallower Depth of Field (DoF). Also, for baby photoshoot Mumbai, use the continuous shooting mode to capture several photos in few seconds.

Check the Lighting Conditions

To get the best baby photos, try photographing during daytime only when there’s ample amount of natural daylight. The natural daylight gives the baby’s skin that soft focus look. Try using window light whenever possible, but avoid harsh direct sunlight as it would cast shadows and would also be unhealthy for babies. In order to fill in the dark spots, use external flash (along with diffuser).

Simple Backgrounds

When it comes to baby and maternity photography Mumbai, simple shots with simple backgrounds are often the best ones. There’s no need for those overly bright and cluttered backgrounds.

A really great way of getting photos that would look professional is getting some white, beige, or grey cloth and then lay that cloth over a couple of chairs. Place that cloth nearby a large window and place the bay on it along with some toys. Now, turn the mode on camera to AV (Aperture Priority) and select a desired aperture. You should feel free to increase the ISO up if you feel that the natural daylight isn’t bright enough.

Be Adventurous

Black & White images are timeless and classic, and they are perfect for baby photography. Turn made dial on camera to AV and choose a large aperture to achieve a blurred and soft background. Use spot metering mode on the camera and meter on baby’s face. This way, you can get some really classic and amazing photos.

Make it Memorable

In order to take pictures that would be memorable, try capturing the baby while he/she is engaged in some activity, or with their friends and family.

Siblings, especially when there’s little gap in their ages, can really make the photo look much more adorable. Get the baby and sibling(s) play together, eat, or interact with each other. Just remember to keep back and avoid trying to force friendliness – just let the kids do whatever they feel like doing. Take pictures from background, in a way that you aren’t disturbing them.

Seat the children in uncluttered area that receives ample natural daylight. Use auto settings on the camera to ensure that you get sharp images, and let your camera choose the flash if its necessary.
