Lanzarote - Tours to the Hottest Destinations

Author: Lisa Jeeves

Planning to visit the beautiful isle of Lanzarote? Airport transfers often ply a scenic route to and from the various accommodations in the area, but you'll need to make sure you make the time to go back and visit them. If you want to make the most of your trip to explore everything Lanzarote has to offer, you should visit the following local attractions.

Timanfaya National Park

Many Lanzarote airport transfers zip past this park on the way to visitors' accommodation. Named after the only active volcano in the island, Timanfaya National Park is one of the few locations around the world designated by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. The protection it enjoys from this status has preserved the eerily alien beauty of the ark, with kilometres of red, green and brown volcanic soil stretching every which way. Geysers are a common sight as well, and this is one of the main tourist attractions the park has to offer. Access is regulated but not restricted, so you can readily visit the park as long as you obey a few ground rules. Cueva de los Verdes

Interested visitors can find this cave in the Haria municipality, which is very accessible – some Lanzarote airport transfers may even go right past. Lying within a protected area of the island, this particular cave is renowned for its hauntingly beautiful walls and roof as well as its one-of-a-kind concert hall. The cooling and subsequent collapse of lava formed the contours of this tunnel, which have been highlighted with well-placed coloured lamps. The concert hall, on the other hand, makes full use of the mysterious ambience of the cave to create a unique acoustic setup for musical performances.

Lagomar Museum

If you are interested in good architecture and unique interior design, then the Lagomar Museum should be added to your list of must-visit sites. Not only is it one of the island's premier art galleries, it is also a case study for incorporating natural beauty with modern architecture. The house and gardens were designed to meld seamlessly with the volcanic rock surrounding the area. The resulting tunnels and quarry faces thus shape the structure into what it is today - a labyrinth that is well worth the time to explore. Most local tours can drop you off at the museum, since it is located relatively close to San Bartolome.

San Bartolome Karting Course

Want to have loads of fun with friends and family - especially when there are children around? This particular karting course is worth mentioning thanks to its diverse fleet of vehicles, challenging turns and accommodating staff. You can choose between two-seater karts to help children along, or you can opt for powerful karts that zip along as if their engines run on rocket fuel! The best part is they offer free transport to and from your accommodations. This free service is subject to availability, though, so you may want to book early.

Keep all these destinations in mind and you will be able to better experience the beauty of the island once you've settled in from your Lanzarote airport transfers.
