The scope of Pharmacy has increased in India in the last few years. According to the survey conducted by the government of India, there are over 300 institutions that impart the study of pharmacy in India and nearly 20,000 students enroll themselves every year. The pharmacy education in India is controlled by two bodies namely, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). Also, the pharmacy education in India has different levels of degree like Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm), Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) and Ph.D.

How to enter this field?

Students who have completed their secondary education i.e. 10+2 education with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology can apply for B. Pharm. Also, another criterion is that they should have scored at least 50 percent in the exam conducted for B Pharm. The salary package for students of pharmacy after getting the job is around 15,000 INR to 25,000 INR monthly which can even scale up keeping in mind the work of the pharmacists. Their annual salary package range from INR 2 lakhs to INR 3 lakhs. In the US the salary package is much higher than in India.
