Science of Mimicking the Ideas of the ‘Ultimate Designer’

Author: Hexagonal Blocks

Modern architects and designers are simply mimicking an ‘Ultimate Engineer’ who has million years of experience. That engineer is known for its perfection in design and problem solving skills. That same problem solving skill was applied by architect Mick Pearce when he was asked to design The East gate Centre at Harare, Zimbabwe.

The conditions of the Zimbabwe government was pretty clear and that was not a single penny would be invested in ongoing air-conditioning cost for that building and that huge building needs to be absolutely cool and comfortable. Being a legendary architect Mick borrowed one of the ideas of the ‘Ultimate Designer’ and designed that architectural marvel at Harare just like a termite mound which is naturally cool all day without any air-conditioning.

That ‘Ultimate Engineer’ is none other than nature itself and that new age technique of designing is famously known as ‘Biomimicry’. It is the science of mimicking the designs of nature. Basically, nature has perfected the art of designing following million years of ‘trial and error’ methods which is also known as ‘evolution’. According to that method only the best designs have survived so far; therefore, Biomimicry is the easiest way of achieving perfections.

The same technique is applicable with honeycomb design as well. Studies have proven that time and again that among all the other geometrical shapes hexagon or honeycomb shape is the most unique shape. It has many advantages and designers around the world adapting that pattern in designing many kinds of objects. The adaptation of that shape in bookshelf has all the following advantages:

1. Aesthetically Highly Outstanding: Traditional square or rectangular shapes are more monotonous and it looks mechanical as well. On the contrary, this colorful hexagon display shelf is aesthetically outstanding. That new designing concept gives the wall a new dimension exclusively. It not only displays the object, it also displays the classic taste of the owner of the house.

2. Exceptional Sturdiness: Another beauty of that shape is, its exceptional strength to weight ratio. Books are generally heavy and it requires sturdiness in bookshelves. This is the reason that most of the time when house owners prepare their book shelves then they often compromise with looks and only concentrate on the sturdiness. With honeycomb bookshelf now both strength and beauty can co-exist simultaneously.

  1. More Specious and Adaptable: These shelves are extremely spacious. Because of its design, many objects of different shapes and sizes can be placed side-by-side. Not only that, unlike traditional square and rectangular shelves, that particular honeycomb shape book shelves require less efforts of maintenance or book arrangement efforts. With minimum modification it also can be used as mini coffee table, study table and laptop table as well.
  2. Economical: These shelves are extremely economical. A quality shelf comes at $67 per piece and a set of multiple shelves starts from $180 per set. Any standard company provides free shipping with lots of attractive deals on these products.

Therefore, adding that beautiful piece would be a great idea for any home owner.
