Step-by-step installation guide

Once you unbox your Orbi satellite and router, you have to follow these simple steps to install the device and enjoy a seamless internet connection. Read on and follow:

  1. First, download the Orbi app from the Google Play store or Apple istore and create a new account for setting up the device for your home internet network. This will require your email and password chosen by you. Then, just initiate the "install a new Orbi system" option by selecting ‘yes’.
  2. When prompted, give the Orbi app your camera access so that it can easily read the QR code on your router. This way you can easily identify the router specifications using just your mobile device. Using a phone makes it much easier to control the functionalities of the Orbi satellite. Scan the QR code on the router.
  3. Turn your modem on and off in order to upgrade to the new Orbi system. Plug the Ethernet cable into the yellow internet port at the back of the Orbi router. Plug in the adapter cable to the black port and plug your device into a power source. Switch the adapter on.
  4. Place your Orbi satellites at various locations across your house as you want to have complete network coverage over your property. Plug these in and turn them on. You must wait for them to get fully boot up. Once powered on, the satellite must show solid blue light to show a good connection with the router. If you see amber or magenta light on the satellite, you can move the satellite closer to the router as per the location of your house.
  5. The app will try to auto-configure the default Orbi network. Select yes for easy and prompt installation process when the prompt flashes on the screen of your mobile device.
  6. If you are unable to scan the QR code on the Orbi router previously, you have to connect to the default Orbi router network manually by putting in the requisite information about the network. This information is available under the router itself or the clear sleeve on the router.
  7. Once connected with the network, the Orbi app will search for your satellites. If your satellites are not detected, move the satellites closer to the router and try again.
  8. Now personalise the network using the application on your mobile device. Set up your administrator password. You can change this as and when you like it. If you forget your admin password, you can use security questions to change the password and reset the login credentials. Your setting will start getting applied.

Some tips

Though your Orbi satellites and router are configured well enough, it is advised to update them as per your latest firmware. If you change your Wi-Fi name and password from the default settings, you can reboot the router and allow it a minute to apply the new settings. Once connected with the new settings, you are finished with the setup. You can use the Orbi app dashboard to utilize various features and services the system has to offer. If you face any kind of technical difficulty, you must call up the registered vendor and service professional to address the problem. Never tamper with the device and run it safely.
