Author: John Martin

Leonardo Dicaprio was born in Los Angeles in 1974 and started his career as early as a six-year-old kid by appearing in television commercials in the late 1980s. Leonardo did his first role in a sitcom named "Parenthood" in the 1990s, and after that, the actor never looked back. DiCaprio then featured in many movies and gradually became one of the most charming actors of Hollywood. He did films of almost all genres from the sitcom, romance, thriller to period drama. Still, he never appeared in any superhero movie in his career.

If you are a Leonardo fan and want to know why he did not add any superhero role in his character list, then we have bought something for you. In this article, we will talk about DiCaprio’s career journey, discuss why he has never been in any superhero movie.

Career

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the A-list actors in the industry. He was nominated for The Oscars for six times. He received his first Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in 2016. Caprio became a part of Hollywood in the very early years of his life, and his career graph from there has only grown-up. He got his first significant role in the movie Boy’s Life in 1993. Then he proved his fantastic talent as an intellectually disabled boy in the film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape in 1993. After four years in 1997, he delivered a beautiful epic love story in "Titanic" as ‘Jack Dawson’, which brought him all the international stardom.

After that, Leonardo never looked back in his career. However, he did deliver a few unsuccessful films in the successive years, and this might be because the young talent got little distracted with all the sudden fame and stardom. But he soon came back to the track and started choosing his movies very wisely. And that was surely explained in his next two successful projects in 2002. The biographical crime drama "Catch Me If You Can" and the period drama "Gangs of New York", which marked the first collaboration of DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese.

Awards and Nominations

The American actor has won 54 awards and 172 nominations. He got his first nomination for the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for the best supporting actor for the movie "What’s Eating Gilbert Grape". Later he won many Golden Globe Awards for different films.

DiCaprio earned the Saturn Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performances in psychological thriller Shutter Island(2010), and science fiction thriller Inception(2010).

He received his first Oscar for the role of Hugh Glass in the period movie The Revenant (2015). He recently got nominated for Oscar, Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for Best Actor for the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).

Why no superhero movies?

Leonardo DiCaprio has always impressed and shocked us with brilliant, spotless performances. But we have never seen him in any Marvel or DC movies till now.

He always has selected more story and character-driven projects, to experiment and explore more of his acting talent. That might be one of the reasons which kept him away from the mindless action films. Although the definition of superhero action films is changing in recent time. DC is hence opening the doors for brilliant actors like him to enter this world of superheroes.

Leonardo is also a huge fan of Stan Lee. Lee claimed before his death that DiCaprio was interested in playing the comic book legend in a biopic.

Although when reporters questioned him, he confirmed that he had not found the right project yet, and confessed he was not interested in Batman Forever. But he also said the superhero movies are getting better and better as far as complex characters so that he might do such films in future.

So now all we can do is to hope that soon our favourite Leonardo DiCaprio will get some exciting superhero script. And we would get a chance to see him in those suits. Until then, enjoy his movies and appreciate his craft.
