Ranthambore National Park is open for jungle safari from October to June. Ranthambore has three months of monsoon, including July, August and September. Safari zones 1 to 5 of Ranthambore are closed during the rainy season while other outdoor safari zones 6 to 10 are open for jungle safari.During the rains it becomes difficult for jeeps and canters to do jungle safaris in Ranthambore National park.

There are two shifts in a day for Jungle Safari in Ranthambore. One safari shift is from 6:30 AM to 10 AM and the second safari shift is from 2 PM to 5:30 PM. Ranthambore has a jungle safari of about three to three and a half hours.

Jungle Safari booking is done online in Ranthambore, in which tickets are booked on first come first serve basis. Online booking of Jungle Safari is suggested in advance of the Ranthambore excursion.

Limited safari vehicles are allowed for Jungle Safari in Ranthambore National Park. For forest safari only registered vehicles of Forest Department can visit the park.Private vehicles are not allowed into the park for jungle safari.

During your journey, make sure that you book a jungle safari in advance. There are two types of safari vehicles for jungle safari in Ranthambore which include Jeep and Canter. Six people can enjoy a safari tour in a jeep while twenty people can enjoy a safari trip in the canter.

Ranthambore Jungle Safari Timings

The time of Jungle Safari in Ranthambore varies according to the season. Safari times vary in winter and in summer. The jungle safari time starts at seven o'clock in the winter season and lasts till half past ten but in the summer season the safari time changes and it lasts from six o'clock in the morning to half past nine o'clock.

The afternoon wilderness safari in winter is from 2 pm to 5:30 pm and in summer it is from 3 pm to 6:30 pm.The movement of wildlife in the forest remains in the early morning and late evening. Overall, the jungle safari starts half an hour after the sun rise and ends half an hour before the sun sets.

Best time for jungle safari in Ranthambore

The best time for jungle safari in Ranthambore is considered to be morning in summer season and afternoon in winter season.

The winter season in Ranthambore starts from November and lasts till February.

The summer season in Ranthambore starts from March and lasts till June.

Ranthambore National Park has water holes on every safari zone for Jungle safari in summer season where you can enjoy wildlife activities.There are lakes at zone number three and four of Ranthambore National Park where you can see marsh crocodiles and different species of birds.

In the winter season, crocodiles can be seen roaming along the water's edge. In the winter season, crocodiles come out of the water for basking in the sun.

Seeing a tiger during a jungle safari depends on luck. It is always a matter of chance though the chances of spotting a tiger are slightly less and people do many safaris to spot a tiger in the forest.

Animals found in Ranthambore National Park

The main wild animals of Ranthambore are tiger, leopard, Caracal, jungle cat, striped hyena, wild boar, Sambar deer, Sloth Bear, Spotted deer, black face langur, Blue Bull or Nilgai, jackal, Marsh crocodile and others.

Ranthambore Safari Park is rich in water sources due to which some safari zones are a good place for bird watching. You can find more than 272 species of birds mainly in jungle safari zones three, four and five.

Common birds found in Ranthambhore include Indian grey hornbills,shrikes,cormorants,flycatchers,falcons,herons,wagtails, egrets,common kingfisher,bulbul and others.

Several species of reptiles are found in Ranthambhore which are mainly swamp crocodiles, cobras, vipers, Indian pythons, Indian chameleons, flap shelled turtles, rat snakes, turtles, lizards and others.

Ranthambore National Park Travel Tips

If you are visiting Ranthambore National Park during summer, you should wear light and camouflage colored cotton clothes. Wear sunscreen and sunglasses during a jungle safari in Ranthambore.
