Questions to Ask Your Cosmetic Surgeon Prior to Your Procedure
Cosmetic surgery has become an increasingly popular way to address issues of self-image and value. Everyone can use a confidence boost, but you shouldn’t rush into any procedure. In order to be safe, make sure you ask your cosmetic surgeon several questions prior to the procedure being done. We here at Southern Aesthetic will bring these topics up during our pre-procedure meetings, so be prepared to discuss these topics. Not only do these show that our specialists are qualified, but they will ensure that you feel great going into the surgery.
Here are the five questions you should be prepared to ask your cosmetic surgeon about:
1. Does my cosmetic surgeon perform the operation I want done very often?
As there are so many different cosmetic surgeries, it’s important that your surgeon is experienced and comfortable performing the procedure that you want done. Ideally, your surgeon will have performed the procedure regularly and worked with a wide range of body types over time. Our experts at Southern Aesthetic will be able to go over before and after photos of past surgeries, so you can be confident in the work that will be done on you.
2. I have a medical condition; will it have an impact on the procedure?
It’s always important to be upfront about any existing medical issues. Your health is paramount to our professionals and your cosmetic surgeon will want to know if you have any medical issues. Not all of these will impact a surgery, but it’s information we must know and will ensure that your procedure is done safely and efficiently.
3. Will anesthesia be used? If so, what type will I receive?
Anesthesia is used for all types of cosmetic surgery procedures, but there are many different types of anesthesia. Your Southern Aesthetic cosmetic surgeon will be able to go over what type of anesthesia we will be using, be it local anesthesia or general anesthesia, and explain why that is optimal for your specific procedure. We are also happy to go over who will be administering the anesthesia and their specific qualifications that they have.
4. What will my procedure cost in total?
Price is always a major factor when it comes to cosmetic surgery as they are elective procedures and you are responsible for all fees rather than your health care provider. We are upfront about how much all of the procedures we offer at Southern Aesthetic cost, so you can decide if that works for you financially. We don’t want the price to be a surprise and can work with you to find the right surgery for you that works for your financial situation.
5. Will it take long for me to recover after the procedure is done?
All cosmetic surgery takes time to heal up. Your surgeon will be happy to go over the recovery timeframe for your procedure and if there are any tasks that can’t be done. Depending on how invasive the surgery is, it can require days or even weeks to heal up. This can be disruptive to your day-to-day life, so we want to be upfront so you have time to plan and can make the proper arrangements. If that’s an issue, you can always opt for a less invasive surgery that requires less downtime.
