The Seven Deadly Sins: What Makes Meliodas Special?

Author: Jenifer Vasquez

Meliodas’s youthful appearance and friendly nature can be deceptive, and some people might make the mistake of underestimating him. However, they would be surprised to find out that this blond-headed hero from The Seven Deadly Sins is one of the series’s most powerful beings. Although he is mostly friendly with a weird and perverted sense of humor, once he is enraged, it is almost impossible to defeat him. He used to be a reckless and vile person with no intention of right or wrong. He was the ideal killing machine who would not think twice before murdering anyone.

However, his life changed once he fell in love with Elizabeth. He saw her helplessly die in front of his eye, which changed his perspective on life. Although he might seem like an innocent young boy, he has endured the worst tragedies and has allowed himself to be changed by them. Meliodas is a scary warrior who has impressive physical capabilities that make him an intriguing character worth looking into.

Meliodas’s Age

Meliodas might appear like a child, but he is 3000 years old. He and Elizabeth were punished by their parents. Meliodas was cursed with immortality by the Supreme Deity, Elizabeth’s mother. While Meliodas’ father, the Demon King, cursed Elizabeth with Perpetual Reincarnation. Meliodas has to watch Elizabeth repeatedly die for centuries while his pain is intensified by the fact that she would forget him each time she was born. Meliodas always found her and ensured that he took care of her.

Magic Attacks

Meliodas can reflect magic attacks while intensifying it in the process. He calls it Full Counter, but it has also been referred to as a cheap imitation of Demon Kings Chandler’s technique. However, Meliodas cannot always reflect attacks; the attacks must be direct because he fails to reflect continuous or indirect attacks. Moreover, he must also be aware of the nature of the attack and the timing.

Assault Mode

Meliodas can draw on demon power to achieve peak strength. He reverts to his personality before he betrayed the Demon Clan and no longer feels emotions whenever he does it. He can use all his demon powers in this state without any interruption, which makes him a scary adversary to face. His power level increases significantly, making it almost impossible for anyone to defeat him. Although, he needs to be at his full power to achieve the Assault Mode.

Swordsmanship

Although Meliodas’s Demon Powers make him a scary enemy, he does not always need it. His swordsmanship alone is enough for some of his fights, and he is even competent enough to use several varieties of blades. Paired with Full Counter Ability, his counter-attacks and attacks are even more terrifying and accurate. Meliodas can also create clones of himself using Lostvayne. While the first clone has half power of the original, the subsequent ones have the ability evenly distributed among them.

Hellfire

Also called Hellblaze, this technique allows Meliodas to use Purgatory Fire against his adversaries. The purple and black flame cannot be extinguished and prevents regeneration of any sort. Meliodas has to push himself to his limits to use his powers. The technique surrounds the blade of his swords with Hellblaze, which he can then use for a single attack called Divine Thousand Slashed, which alone can bring down the strongest enemies.

If Meliodas has not fallen in love with Elizabeth, he might have conquered the world. However, other races were lucky that it never happened. But it would be foolish to underestimate Meliodas since he is not any other ordinary being. He has extraordinary powers at his disposal, which he can use to defeat even the strongest enemies. Although he might look like a child and is not as intimidating, he should not be taken lightly. Even though Meliodas did not conquer the world, he is still a mighty warrior who must be respected.
