Ways to Sync Windows Phone with Microsoft Outlook Calendar and Contacts

Microsoft Outlook is used for sending and receiving e-mails and is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. The application is present in every phone, irrespective of the operating system. Whether you have a Windows, Android, or iPhone, you can sync this application to your device.

Apart from e-mail facilities, outlook provides contact managing, calendaring, web browsing, and many other services. Even if you change phones, you will sync your contacts and calendar to the new system.

Depending on the operating system, the sync process may vary, but the result would be successful.

Syncing Windows Phone with Microsoft Outlook

For windows, phone users syncing to Microsoft Outlook would save their contact list and calendar activities to the drive. When you change your phone even to another operating system, you will be able to revive the data without any problem.

Follow the steps below to sync your Windows phone to Microsoft Outlook.

  1. Go to the ‘People’ application on your Windows phone and click on the quotation marks (" ").

  2. From here, you will see the ‘Settings’ option.

  3. Here you will see the ‘Account’ option and then an ‘Add Account’ option, which will create a new account.

  4. For creating the account, you will have to select ‘Microsoft Account’ and provide the Outlook e-mail id and password.

  5. In case you do not have an Outlook account, you need to create one for the sync to work.

  6. After you have entered your account details, sign in with the outlook account.

  7. The next step would require you to open the address https://login.live.com on your web browser. This can be done on your computer browser or even on your phone’s web browser. Here you need to sign in using your Microsoft account details.

  8. After you have signed in, you need to move to the option ‘People’ and tap it.

  9. The contacts of your Windows phone will be uploaded to the Outlook address automatically. Select all the contacts here.

  10. On the screen, you will see the option ‘Manage.’ Tap on it, and a drop-down box will appear.

  11. Select the ‘Export to Outlook.com and other services’ option.

  12. Choosing this option will sync all your contacts, and a CSV folder will get downloaded on your computer or phone.

  13. The folder needs to be saved properly since this contains all your synced contacts. You can access the contacts anytime you want and even save them to your new phone.

Syncing to Other Operating Systems

Just like for your Windows phone, you can sync Outlook to Android, IOS, and Google.

Android Outlook Sync
  • For android outlook sync, you need to select ‘Settings’ and then ‘Application.’

  • Tap on ‘Outlook’ and then open ‘App Settings’ and click on ‘Permissions.’

  • Enable the ‘Contacts’ switch if it is disabled.

  • Open Outlook application and select ‘Settings.’

  • Click on your account and then select ‘Sync Contacts.’

iPhone Outlook Sync

  • For iPhone outlook sync, first, open ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘Outlook’ – ‘Contacts.’

  • Enable ‘Background App Refresh.’

  • Open Outlook application and select ‘Settings’ – ‘Your Account’ – ‘Sync Contacts.’

Google Outlook Sync

  • The Google outlook sync is done using Gmail. For this, you need to have the Gmail application on your device.

  • Register the outlook account on your Gmail application. Open the application and click on Menu. This option is shown in the form of three horizontal lines located in the top left corner.

  • Click on ‘Settings’ – ‘Add Account’ – ‘Exchange and Office 365’.

  • Put in your account details and sign in. If you see a pop-up with the ‘Remote Security Administration’ request, then click on Ok.
