Reasons Why Patients Prefer Home Services
House call doctors are doctors specialized in visiting and treating their patients at the comfort of their homes. According to a survey carried out recently on patients and their doctors, it was recorded that both parties benefit from the home service method. There are so many reasons why patients prefer to have their doctor come treat them at home rather than going to the hospital and some of those reasons will be treated in this article.
One of the patients interviewed said her son no longer misses his appointments because he wants to take her to the hospital and that she also doesn’t need to stress herself going to the hospital.
According to another patient, going to the hospital is quite an ordeal for him because it makes him feel sicklier than ever before because of the numerous patients trooping in and out of the doctor’s office with various kinds of injuries, sickness, and diseases. He also complained about the awful smell of drugs in the hospital. It makes him feel like puking thereby unsettling his stomach.
Some patients take their doctors visit as a normal friendly visit which helps them reduce their anxiety. This is the case for most elderly people who are usually all by themselves at home. They feel so lonely and all they can do is to lie on their bed, sit, and probably stare through the window for an outside view.
When doctors make periodic visits to their patients at home, it could develop into a close relationship between the both of them. A doctor once talked about a day he went for his normal periodic visits and the patient open her arms wide for a hug signifying that she is happy to see him. Relationships such as this would help the doctor know exactly how his/her patient feels and try encouraging them as well as prescribing drugs that would help them get better. The patient can also benefit from this closeness by talking the doctor into lowering his fees.
Some patients claim most doctors are extremely caring when they come home. Apart from prescribing medications to be taken by their patients, they also ask the question "what is in the refrigerator?" because they want to be sure that there is someone cooking for them. They want to know the quantity of food consumed daily by their patients and also know if they take a lot of fruits.
Patients benefit a lot from house call doctors but they'll also have a costlier bill to settle. This might not be a problem for wealthy people but it would affect average people. Anyway, there are various means with which you can talk your doctor into reducing his fees especially if you have already built a good relationship him. Doctors also benefit from the home service method because you'll find a lot of them these days switching from hospital physicians to house call doctors. They wouldn't do that if it’s not a better option.
