Google News and Weather App updated.

Android phone users will be impressed to learn that after such a long time, Google has finally updated its News and Weather interface and duly availed to the Play Store. Quite an exodus considering that the last one was released to the Galaxy Nexus. The previous widget was quite efficient in providing speedy access to new stories collection as per topic alongside weather forecasts. This went for years without a single update until recently and you can rejoice in the fact that Google has finally decided to give it a facelift and what better channel than the Play Store. Tech-savvy users who wish to access customized feeds might find this application a tad insufficient as it has standard feeds.

The former Widget version versus the current version

However, they can enjoy the improved and updated layout that comes with a new app that gives you the freedom to enjoy the interface of a card-style user and an adjustable home screen widget. This new privilege was not provided by the previous version/app of the Android 2.3. If you are still wondering what this fuss about headline widget and weather update is all about, but considering that, this News and Weather app is straight from Google, this is truly newsworthy and more so, because it has not been updated for a while. Users have the freedom to choose widget from two home screens such as the old version, which has two versions:

  • A widget of 4 x 1, which is a traditional version and as you can imagine, this version has no updated or improved technology.
  • A widget of 2 x 3, which is the improved version of the previous one such as indicating a multi-day forecast before the current headlines

Thankfully, users have the freedom to adjust the widget in order to create space. By widening the widget, users are able to see more days outlined in the forecast list. The taller you make it, the more headlines you get.

How it works

Once you tap any of the current updates, your web browser will receive the initial article only if it is in default. However, once you tap the headline your web browser default will receive a view of a detailed Google Now-style card that delves deeper into the forecast and large fresh headlines as well as a thumbnail picture. If you wish to see various news such as business and sports news, all you have to do is swipe side to side.
