This could be troublesome for you. Only if you think this way. Having children at home during household shifting can raise the burden but if you strategize it properly you won’t find it very taxing. If you are alone and planning to shift to a new place, then do what Meena did.

Lets’ find out how she made things easier with her kids in tow.

Communication

Kids can be very perceptive. Especially if they find drastic changes taking place around them. What Meena did was, converting their confusion into curiosity. When her husband broke the news of relocation to her, instead of starting with sorting, organizing, and de-cluttering, she sat with her kids. She explained to her what was happening and what needs to be done.

Being perceptive they were calmed by the theory related simply by their mother. Things got easier after that and she was able to plan things without any hassle.

Keep your kids in the loop

As packing and moving to a new city can keep you on your toes. In such a situation, it is easy to lose focus on your little ones. So, whatever you do, remember to keep your kids in the loop. What is your next, which packer and mover in the city you are going to choose, how you are you going to get things done, such questions and more when you discuss with your partner try to have children be in the conversation?

Even if they don’t understand involving them in the conversation will make them feel responsible. Ask them what they want to do, how they imagine their new house will be, which color would they like to have their room colored in, etc. Such questions keep children imagining good things about the new place.

Establish a routine

Just like adults, kids take time, even more so to settle in their new surroundings. Amidst all the packing, loading, moving, unpacking you must maintain the routine of the kids. This makes them comfortable and soothes them into the new place. Keep mealtimes, bedtimes, etc. as your priority while shifting. When packers and movers arrive, it may be difficult to keep up with the routine.

If you can enlist the help of relatives it can easier. If you are shifting all by yourself, then call for the help of a nanny, or send your kids to a day-care nearby for a day or two. Don’t forget to spend time before sending them to bed at night. Read them a book or talk to them for some time. this can help them settle in the new environment much faster.

Cope Ahead

Transitional exercises help kids cope with upcoming situations. Seek their help in packing or taking care of their toys. You can also ask them to pack their bags with things that are important to them. This helps kids feel that they are in control when things are becoming confusing. To make children feel stability you must give small work to take their mind off from the household shifting.
