Every Gate 2021 aspiring student is aware that the GATE exams will be consisting of 23 papers, inclusive of a new one comprised of Petroleum Engineering syllabus. 2. Sit at a stretch
While attempting a previous year question paper, students must take it very seriously and try it like it's the real exam as it will only prepare them for the actual exam. Students must not take any unnecessary breaks while attempting the mock test. Devote each section your time and build your strategy to score the best possible marks. Again do not just read the question paper; attempt them and try to attempt them in a single sitting.
3. Review Your Performance
After you had attempted 2-3 previous year question papers, you will have a clear idea about the solid topics and the topics you are weak in. You'll need to spend extra time studying about weaker topics, but with proper time allotment, you will clear all your doubts. Focusing on your weaker topics doesn't mean you can neglect your strong topics; you will need to spend a bit less time revising the topics.

You will be needed to keep track of the changing trends. You can track a change in trend by attempting GATE previous year questions. After attempting several previous year question papers, you will come to know which questions are asked and which are not.
5. Don't Rely Blindly
You must not only rely on previous year papers. Every exam is unpredictable. The GATE exam pattern might change before the date of the exam, so you need to be prepared for everything. Keep up to date with the news related to the GATE exam.
6. UNDERSTAND THE TOPICS WEIGHT AGE
Covering the whole syllabus is a must in both cases, that is, in a mock exam or the actual exam.
