Help CRY Provide Regular Education To Underprivileged Children
Children's education in India is still not given enough importance in many communities. The underserved families are unable to meet their basic requirements to run the house which compels them to deprive children of their birth-right to have access to regular and quality education.
Almost 46.24 million children were out of school in 2016 (DISE 2016-17 and RGI Census Population Projection 2016) and this statistic is a sad wake-up call for the country to protect its children from a doomed future. After all, it has been proven time and again how vital the role of education is in the impressionable minds of children.
Many children are dropped out of school while several other children never get enrolled in the first place. DISE 2016-17 shows that 30% of girls in the country finish class 12 age appropriately. Girls, in particular, face harsher circumstances due to their gender and are given no option but to sit at home and handle the chores or get married at an early age.
Households that face extreme poverty require more support to feed the family members. Therefore, financial constraints tend to push parents to engage their children in child labour. Unfortunately, this causes more harm to the child as the early years are more impressionable and can have a negative, long-term impact on the child. Also, this makes their prospect of attending a school bleaker.
In the cases where children are first-generation students, the parents have a tough time understanding the urgency and many benefits of studying from an early age. From logical thinking to open-mindedness and awareness about the world, education contributes in more ways than one. Besides mental growth and psychological development, education helps an individual in becoming more independent and driven. Education helps children broaden their horizons, build their personalities and most importantly, get a stable job. Being employed, without depending on daily wages, is integral for a prosperous future but without basic education, the chances of a good job are quite slim.
