How to pass Alberta Learners Test
In Alberta, the process to obtain a driver’s license is started when you pass the Alberta learners test. It is the very first step before you can start driving a car. After passing the learner’s test, you will get the class 7 license and work your way up for a full-fledged class 5 license to drive anywhere you want to go.
Keep in mind that you will need other licenses if you want to drive other vehicles such as taxis and ambulances. Failing to provide a valid license can lead to a suspension that can delay your process of obtaining a full license.
The requirements for taking the test
Firstly, you need to know the requirements for the Alberta learners test. To qualify for a test, you must be at least 14 years old. If you are still under 18, then you need written consent from your parents or guardian.
The tests you need to pass consist of a knowledge and vision test. There is no road test because you are not expected to drive a car alone. However, you are still allowed to drive a moped. The class 7 or learner’s license holders are not allowed to drive alone or to drive between 12:00 AM and 05:00 AM. Failing to adhere to the rules can lead to license suspension.
Some people may wait for a while until they are 15 so they can take the learner’s license, and take the probation license as soon as they turned 16. That way, they only have to hold the license for another 2 years before taking the full class 5 driver’s license.
The tests you need to take
The learners test covered both vision and knowledge tests. The name is somewhat self-explanatory. For the vision test, you have to go to the nearest center and have your vision tested to see if you are fit to drive.
As for the knowledge test, despite being quite basic, but it is still filled with much information that is often missed. You will need to get the driver’s guide and learn about lights and signs and other important information about being on the road.
The knowledge test can be taken once a day until you pass. However, you will need to pay the fee every time you take the test. Make sure that you have prepared yourself for the knowledge test, so you will be able to pass it on your first try.
The Alberta learners test doesn’t have any road test because the license holder is still limited by some rules such as driving time and has to drive under supervision by a driver with a full class 5 license. This goes on until they hold the license for one whole year, or it’s time to upgrade their license to the probation one.
In general, it takes at least three years to obtain a full Class 5 driver’s license. As for each upgrade from learners to probation to the full class 5 requires one and two years apart. The Alberta learners test is the starting point.
