First Time Sensex Reached 54,700 and Nifty Crossed 16,300

The stock markets closed with great gains for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The Sensex touched a record level of 54,717 and Nifty 16,349 during trading and finally the Sensex closed at 54,492.84 with a gain of 123 points. On the other hand, Nifty closed at 16,294 with a gain of 35 points.

Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 16 are up and 14 closed in the red mark. In which the highest share of Bharti Airtel closed at 598 with a gain of 3.97%. SBI and IndusInd Bank are among the biggest losers.

Market got support from IT stocks

The market got support from IT stocks. Nifty IT was up 0.76% on NSE. In the IT sector, Oracle Finance's share closed at 1249 with a gain of 2.84% and Tech Mahindra's share by 2.75%.
