POCO F3 GT Review: Great Phone with Minor Flaws
POCO has released a smartphone with high performance and stellar battery life in comparison to the Nord 2.
This latest smartphone seems like a new version of the Redmi K40 Enhanced version, released in China earlier this year. It comprises the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, similar to the recently released OnePlus Nord 2. But the POCO F3 GT also comprises magnetic trigger buttons in order to invoke the gamer in you. So, is this gaming smartphone is just a niche phone? Or will POCO F3 GT be the next value champ? I have used this smartphone for some time, and so here are my first impressions.
Price and AvailabilityThe POCO F3 GT gaming smartphone is now available for sale on Amazon. However, it is on its way to release in other global markets in the coming weeks. This gaming phone is available in three configurations, i.e., 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB. Here’s the pricing for the different variants of the POCO F3 GT:
- POCO F3 GT (6GB/128GB): $362
- POCO F3 GT (8GB/128GB): $390
- POCO F3 GT (8GB/256GB): $415
The latest Poco F3 GT smartphone is surely the most advanced version of the smartphone to come from Poco. This phone comprises a glass back, metallic frame, and an ebullient design enhanced by the Gunmetal Silver color model I have. This model doesn’t capture any fingerprint smudges, and I hope that should also be the same as the other Predator Black color variant. However, that one looks to include a more reflective rear panel.
This latest smartphone is 8.3mm thick and weighs about 205 grams. However, the dimensions and weight make the Poco F3 GT bulky and thick, but if you compare this phone to a phone like ROG, you will find that Poco has done a great job. But the worst part of this phone is that you won’t find a 3.5mm headphone jack despite having that much thickness. However, you will find a 3.5mm type-C adapter inside the packaging.
.
A prominent highlight of this gaming phone is the two pop-up shoulder buttons. These buttons come out when you unlock them. You will get an excellent response rate, close to the point where you will start feeling like having an unfair advantage over rivals while playing Call of Duty Mobile.
PerformanceThis smartphone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. This is the same processor that has been used in the OnePlus Nord 2 (but a tweaked version). Plus, it is becoming the top choice for smartphone manufacturers in the mid-premium category. It is a pretty decent chipset and manages most tasks efficiently but also feels to have some restrictions.
However, I haven’t had an option to use COD at the peak frame rate and graphics. Plus, the smartphone started heating a little while capturing pictures.
Well, two features stand out from the performance viewpoint. They are the shoulder buttons and the dual stereo speakers. The stereo speakers on the Poco F3 GT are genuinely clear and loud. This feature should excite gamers along with the users who stream content through their phones. Now come to the shoulder buttons. They have an excellent response rate. They can be located from Game Space and used inside the game to gain benefit over other players.
Battery Life and ConnectivityThe POCO F3 GT includes a 5,065mAh battery which managed to last through the end of the day comfortably even in a heavy workday. I was utilizing this phone at 120Hz display refresh rate locked. Additionally, I would say that your mileage may vary if you play games for a lot of time on the phone.
Well, I had restricted my gaming time to just an hour while reviewing the POCO F3 GT. Fortunately, POCO has packed a fast 67W charger with the handset, which charges the phone from 0-100 percent in around an hour. So, when it comes to battery life, you remain assured as the F3 GT has covered you in the battery department.
When it comes to connectivity, this smartphone gives Dual-5G standby, alongside 5G carrier aggregation as well. POCO F3 GT can pair with both 2.4GHz as well as 5GHz wireless networks.
This handset provides lots of appealing features and has been priced excellently. This emerges as a potential competitor for the recently launched OnePlus Nord 2 smartphone and is surely worth the hype.
