How to score High in NEET Exam?

NEET examination is considered as one of the toughest competitive examinations. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET examination.

When one prepares religiously for an examination, then are chances to clear the examination in the first attempt itself. In the case of NEET, if one is aware of what to study and how to study, then you will clear the examination in the first attempt itself.

Now the question arises as to how to score 600+ marks in NEET 2021. An aspirant must set a goal of scoring 600+ marks in NEET. This goal can be achieved but it will require lot of hard work and dedication. To conceive this target, one must believe that it is achievable. The next step behind calculating 600+ score in NEET is to know the examination pattern of NEET.

Given below is the table showing the examination pattern and structure.

Each question carries 4 marks and the total number of questions that are asked in the examination is 180. Therefore, to score 600+ marks in NEET examination, one should have at least 150 correct answers. According to the new examination pattern, a candidate has to attempt 10 out of 15 questions from section B. Suppose you attempt more than 10 questions, then you will not be getting extra marks nor will you be getting negative marking. But to mage one’s time, one has to select the questions carefully.

So, how to score 155 correct answers in NEET? Here are some tips which can be followed to get 155 correct answers.

  • Start your preparation early- We all know the famous phrase "Rome was not built in a day". So, begin your preparation for the examination early. In order to score 600+ marks in NEET, one should be thorough with the syllabus. Students must begin preparing for NEET from class 11 onwards. Then you will get two years to prepare for the examination. You will also be getting enough time to prepare notes for revising purpose. So, students who begin preparing for the NEET early, has an advantage.
  • Set realistic goal- The next important tip is to set realistic goals. While making a time-table for NEET, you should devote time to all your activities. One cannot keep 12 hours to self-study if you spend 10 hours at school. When you set realistic goals, you will remain positive, motivated and focused.
  • Know the syllabus- Candidates must know the syllabus thoroughly before preparing for the examination. When you know the syllabus thoroughly, you will be able to divide your time efficiently. Many students think that the syllabus of NEET and that of the board examinations is the same. But this is not the case. Some topics are common for NEET and boards, but the syllabus for NEET is vast. If you are planning to score 875 of the questions right, then you cannot miss the important chapters while preparing.
  • Identify weak spots- Then the next step is to identify the topics which you are weak at. Devote more time in the topics which you are weak at irrespective of their weightage. Put extra effort on the weak areas and then there will be no more weaknesses.
  • Mock tests- The mock tests and sample papers of NEET are available online. Candidates must solve mock tests and sample papers to clear NEET examination. But in order to score 600+ marks in NEET, one must master them by solving as many mock tests as possible. Do not lose heart if you cannot score well in these. Try to identify the areas where you are losing marks so as to avoid negative marking in the examination.
  • Be true to yourself- Be unbiased in your preparation analysis. This will help you to identify your weaknesses and your strengths as well. Just be true to yourself about your preparation. For example, you completed a chapter half-heartedly and do not remember them much. Then be true to yourself that you did not study that chapter properly. When you accept this type of situations, it will help you to understand the strength of your preparation level.
  • Be consistent- The most important tip is to be consistent. You should adhere to your time-table no matter what. You may decrease the number of hours of self-study, but you should miss a single day. Procrastinating will only add on to the things you have to finish before the examination which you will add up stress in your life.

You might have to sacrifice a cousin’s wedding or a friend’s or a friend’s birthday party to achieve your goal of scoring 600+ in NEET. But remember that all these small sacrifices are going to be worth at the end of the day.
