The 2015 Ford F-150 may well be the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 ever delivering industry-leading towing and payload capacity. The Ford F-Series has enjoyed accolades as both best-selling vehicle and best-selling truck for over 30 years, nearly half of its stated 67-year history. Moreover, compared to previous models, the F-150 has had an overall weight reduction of nearly 700 pounds. This has largely been accomplished through a high-strength, military-grade and aluminum alloy in the body.

Engines

The 2015 F-150 series is available with four different types of engines. Reviewers generally speak highly of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine for its weight, size, and construction. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine produces 325 horsepower with 375 lb.-ft. of torque. Furthermore, the F-150 2.7 have a 2200-pound max payload and a tow rating of 8500 pounds. The F-150 also offers a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that offers V8 like 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. or torque. The powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine offers great power and efficiency with 385 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. or torque. This powerful engine allows you to tow a maximum 11,100 pounds and a payload of 3,300 pounds.

Changes And Improvements

The suspension, bushings and attachment points, increased stability in the rear axle by having the shocks ‘splayed in opposite directions’ increase stability and durability of the F-150. Within the cab, glint and glare have been minimized with re-designed bevels and angles.

Additionally, the 2015 Ford F-150 offers both tailgate step and kick-down box side steps which make ease of packing cargo and/or people in and out of the vehicle somewhat easier compared to other makes and previous. The 2015 F-150 is the first make to offer remote opening for the tailgate. Cargo flexibility too is enhanced with a variety of mounting and tie-down points conveniently positioned for the user.

Aluminum body, EcoBoost engine, improved climate and touch-screen controls, roomier interior, exterior cameras to make parking or maneuvering the vehicle in tight spots easier, led headlights and taillights which improve nighttime visibility all improve the already tough and dependable Ford F-150. With great additional options available like the ‘my view cluster’ allowing driver to prioritize information per vehicle operation, tire pressure monitoring system, off road towing, the radar cruise control, forward collision warning and high-tech blind-spot detection, Ford continues to raise the bar. Regardless of the model configuration or engine choice, the 2015 Ford F-150 can tow up to 1,100 more pounds, haul 530 more pounds and weighs 700 pounds less than previous models. It’s easy to see why the 2 Ford F-150 continues to be America’s favorite pickup truck.
