United Airlines Flight Change: Change flight on the fly
When booking a United flight, it’s important to be aware of the United Airlines Change Flight policies. If something comes up and you need to change your reservation, these are the rules you’ll need to follow.

- As of Aug. 30, 2020, United Airlines no longer charges change fees for travel within the United States for most fare types. There are a few exceptions for basic economy tickets.
Here’s what else you need to know:
- Fees for changing tickets are not charged for the economy. Economy Plus, first, business and United Premium Plus fares.
- This policy governs tickets for travel within the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), or between the U.S. and Mexico or the Caribbean.
- Another benefit of traveling to the United States is that there are no change fees for international flights originating in the US.
You will have to pay $200 for the flight change under the domestic flight category and $400 for the flight change under some United international flight category according to the United Airlines change flight fee.
Some of the reservations which are allowed to be changed can be changed online through the official website of the airline or the mobile app of airlines. Select the option "Change Flight" from the reservation section of the official website or mobile app. Any fees difference and change fees will be reflected as you search and select a new flight.United Airlines 24-Hour Flight Change PolicyWe understand that plans can change at any time due to unforeseen events. That’s why United Airlines offers a 24-hour flexible Flight Booking Policy. This policy allows you to make changes to your booking or cancel it within 24 hours of purchase, as long as you do so at least one week before your flight’s scheduled departure.
If you follow this policy, you will not need to pay the change fee. - On united.com, select "My trips" and enter your information
- Select "Change flight" and then "Edit" to make the following changes:
- Date of travel or destination
- Add a flight
- Remove a flight
- Select "Continue" and choose a new flight option
- Continue through booking to confirm new flight
