Ashtavinayak Darshan: Sequence & Significance
Ashtavinayak Yatra is very much popular among the devotees of the lords Shri Ganesha. The word "Ashta" comes from the Sanskrit language and simply means Eight, and the Vinayak is another name of Lord Ganesha.
Ashtavinayak means the Eight Ganpati's and all these Ganpati is "Swayambhu". That means they all are "Self-Originated". All these eight Vinayak's are situated near the district Pune in the Maharashtra State of India.
The Ashtavinayak yatra is another level of experience for the devotees. All Eight Ashtavinayak are the "Jagrut", which means the lord stay there and fulfils the devotees who pray to the Lord Ganesha with a pure heart.
The Ashtavinayak yatra is completed normally in 3 days, but by speeding up a little bit many people complete it in 2 days only.
Many people attend the yatra during the weekends, that is Saturday and Sunday and by speeding up they complete it successfully in these 2 days.
The Devotees also complete this yatra by starting it from Mumbai, as the distance from Mumbai is not that much.
All these temples structures are different and also the "Murti" of Lord Ganesh is different from each one.
All these temples are having their own identity and are popular among the devotees with that identity and their name.
Eight Vinayak are placed into the villages namely Theur, Morgaon, Lenyadri, Ranjangaon, Siddhatek, Ozar, Mahad, Pali as followed by the respective names of the Vinayak's are Chintamani, Moreshwar, Girijatmak, Mahaganpati, Siddhvinayak, Vighaneshwar, Varad Vinayak, Bhallaleshwar.
Ashtavinayak Yatra Sequence
As all the eight Vinayak are placed near the Pune district, devotees preferred to start it from their only or from the place near it, but there are many devotees who also start the yatra from Mumbai.
Whether you start yatra from Mumbai or Pune, you have to start it by taking the blessings and "darshan" of "Moreshwar" of Morgaon Vinayak.
There are "Manyattas" that the yatra should be a start with the darshan of "Moreshwar" of Morgaon.
Below is the sequence of the Ashtavinayak Yatra, you can change the middle sequence of the darshan of the Vinayak once you start it by taking darshan of "Moreshwar" of Morgan.

1. Moreshwar of Morgaon
"Moreshwar" is the first Vinayak of the from all eight Vinayak devotees start the yatra by taking the blessings of the Moreshwar Vinayak.
It is nearby the 70Km from Pune and 217Km from Mumbai.
2. Siddhvinayak of Siddhatek
You can visit the Siddhvinayak of Siddhatek very next after the Moreshwar of Morgaon which is only the 66Km long from the Morgaon.
3. Chintamani of Theur
You can visit the "Chintamani" Theur very next after the Siddhatek as both temples are close to each other.
Here, you can swipe the sequence as per your will, you can visit the Siddhatek or Theur after taking the "Darshan" of Moreshwar Morgaon as per your comfort.
The distance between Theur and Siddhatek is 90Km.
4. Mahaganpati of Ranjangaon
The fourth Ganpati your visit on your first day is the Mahaganpati of Ranjangaon which is 45Km away from the Chintamani of Theur.
5. Vighaneshwar of Ozar
The Fifth Ganpati of the Ashtavinayak Yatra is the Vighaneshwar of Ozar which is nearly 195Km from Ranjangaon.
Usually, Devotees take a day off here, as there are many "Bhakti Nivas" to stay at a very low cost.
You can take a rest for a night and end your first day here, on the second day of yatra you can start it by taking the Darshan of Vighaneshwar of Ozar.
6. Girijatmak of Lenyadri
Lenyadri of Girijatmak is near the Ozar nearly a 16Km away from it and you can visit it after the Ozar.
Girijatmak of Lenyadri is situated into caves above 100 feet from the ground and has a beautiful view from the top of it.
It's a very beautiful spot one can spend a day here, but if you want to complete your Yatra early, you have to ignore all things and climb fast.
7. Vardvinayak of Mahad
The 7th Ganpati you are visiting in your yatra and the 3rd from your second day of the yatra is the Vardvinayak of the Mahad.
The Ganpati is very far from the Lenyadri nearby 230km and it will take more than 4 hours and more to travel.
The temple is situated near Khopoli and near the Mumbai Pune highway and closer to Mumbai city.
8. Bhallaleshwar of Pali
The Eighth Ganpati from the Ashtavinayak yatra you are going to visit is the Bhallaleshwar of Pali, which is nearby the 90Km away from the Mahad.
The temple is beautiful, all the Eight Vinayak's temples are beautiful and you will have another level of experience during the yatra.
