As an SEO consultant, I get asked all the time what are some of my favorite tools? Here's a list of 10 of them!

  1. SEMrush - If you're looking at building your own website, then you need to be able to see where your competition is ranking. SEMrush will give you a ton of data about keywords, backlinks, traffic, etc. It's free but there are paid plans as well.
  2. Google Analytics - This tool allows you to track almost every aspect of your site. There are plenty of features within GA that allow you to understand who your audience is, how they found your site, and what they do once they arrive.
  3. Ahrefs - One of the most popular link analysis tools available. Ahrefs gives you tons of data including page authority, backlink profile, domain authority, top sites linking to your competitors, etc. A tool like Ahrefs is only as good as its data like search volume, backlinks, rankings or social shares, the data in Ahrefs is REALLY good.
  4. Buzzsumo - Another great social media analytics tool. Buzzsumo pulls in all the content from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, blogs, forums, etc. and lets you search across these platforms. Then you can easily compare organic and paid results.
  5. AdWords Express - If you don't have a budget to spend on PPC ads, AdWords Express is a tool that will help you test different ad variations quickly and efficiently.Google AdWords is a great way to get traffic to your site.
