Stay away from chemicals. Sometimes we are so desperate to achieve good results when cleaning our windows, that we're ready to do practically everything to make this true. Sometimes we even think about using harsh industrial chemicals, just to get the result we wanted. But this is a very serious mistake which can even cost you your windows in the long term. This is why you should avoid using those highly advertised creams and sprays they show on the TV. They stand no chance against the stubborn outside dirt and dust, and you'll be only giving away your money to companies, which work every day to destroy the planet. All you need in order to have your windows perfectly cleaned, is a bucket of water and some soap. Everything else is skills and technique.

Cheap washing up liquid. I know that you'll think this is too good to be true, but it's actually a fact. Most people spend lots of money on window cleaning detergents and different products, while the best possible window cleaning solution has been hiding in your home all along – simple and cheap washing up liquid. It has the same effect as all the other window cleaning sprays, but you don't need to specially buy it and use it only on your window. Just have in mind the fact, that these washing up liquids can be quite foamy sometimes, so use them sparingly. If you want, you can even mix some washing up liquid with water and put it in a spray bottle.

The right tools. I know that all of you have read all kinds of tips and trick about different magical machines which can clean your windows just by looking at them. But the reality is, that none of these things actually provides better results or makes the cleaning easier and more efficient. The truth is, that you need three general tools in order to be able to clean your windows well. The first tool you need is something to apply the detergent on the window. Some people use a spray bottle, and some prefer a cloth or some rag. The experienced cleaners use a plastic t-bar with a special washer on the end, which is a professional window cleaning tool. The second tool you'll need, is to remove the liquid from the window surface. There is no compromise there, the best tool for this is the squeegee. It's a special rubber blade, put on a t-bar, which takes all the water off the window. I'm sure that you can find a t-bar, to which you can attach both the squeegee and the washer. The third tool you'll need is a piece of material to wipe all the edges with. This way there will be no drops and dirt left on the surface. The professional window cleaners have a special rag on their shoulders, which may look insignificant, but it's actually called a "scrim", and it's designed to leave a smear free window with only one wipe.

Get the technique. So, all that's left is to get the technique right. First, you'll have to wipe the entire window with the cleaning solution, using the washer. Wipe the window from top to bottom right away. Don't leave the solution to stay on the surface, because it will evaporate and leave marks. Use the squeegee to do this, and don't take the blade off the window at any point, because this will leave an unpleasant water line. After you do that, the window will be clean, but the inside edges will still have some water drops left on them. This is the time to take the scrim and wipe the entire edge of the window with it. And that's it.
