83% of Shoppers Are Pleased With Their Online Shopping Experiences

As a result, 43% of mobile users prefer shopping on desktops/laptops rather than their mobile devices as the former produces clearer images. Four out of five respondents (41%) prefer retailers' full websites over mobile websites (34%) or mobile apps (25%).
Although desktops and laptops are the preferred buying channel, respondents use smartphones to track deliveries (28%), research products before visiting a store (25%), research products and alternatives in-store (22%), and locate stores or check inventory levels (22%).
Convenience Is King in Product Delivery and Returns
Free shipping on purchases is among the most popular online shopping benefits. The majority of respondents said they would expect their purchases in five days or less
It's fine if they get free shipping. 83% of customers say they will wait two additional days to receive free shipping. Almost all shoppers (93%) take action to qualify for free shipping, and adding more items to the cart ranks highest (58%).
There has been an increase in online return volume between 2019 and 2022. However, customer satisfaction with online shopping like buying bedding sets online in the USA is high. Sixty-two percent of respondents had returned or exchanged an item they had purchased online in 2019, but only 51 percent in 2020. Consumers also expect returns to be free, with 82% of respondents saying they would complete a purchase if they could receive free return shipping or return the item in-store.
When shopping for something they haven't purchased in the past, Americans consider many factors, including the ability to compare prices from multiple sellers and to ask questions about what they are purchasing. Eighty-six percent of Americans say that comparing prices from several different sellers is either extremely (42%) or somewhat (44%) important when buying something for the first time, while a similar share says asking questions is extremely (42%) or somewhat (41%).
