Introduction to Lean Green Belt Certification.
The Six Sigma Green Belt Training workshop is a deep dive into the Lean structured problem-solving method called DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve) for government and knowledge workers. Participants learn how to facilitate improvement projects and acquire results by applying the concepts to 2 "live" processes: one from a Green Belt sponsor organization (8 days, in-class group project) and one from their own organization (8 days, individual project). In total, achieving a Lean Green Belt Certification requires approximately 16 days of hands-on effort spread over a 3 - 5-month period.
Typically, the individual project (after implementation) will create annual time savings to more than offset the time you invest in the program. For example, if the program and assignment require 16 days of the participant's time, then improvement solutions should save 32 days per year on an ongoing basis.
The Lean Green Belt certificate workshop is targeted to
Employees of organizations who want to develop in-house capability to lead (facilitate) and sustain one or more process improvement projects and/or are embarking on a large-scale Lean transformation
The learning objectives of this workshop include:
- Learn how to apply DMAIC (a structured 5-step approach to process improvement) to facilitate improvement projects and get sustained results through continuous improvement
- Apply principles of change management for better results
- Understand and explain Lean principles to others.
The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate Online Difference
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Online curriculum is particularly thorough, providing added Lean training and preparing students for the rigor of our Six Sigma Black Belt course. Instead of completing a Green Belt project, our students learn through case studies. This approach offers students greater flexibility and the opportunity to gain a more holistic understanding of tools for identifying waste and reducing defects. Students also are encouraged to begin thinking about their Black Belt projects. Many Black Belt certification courses include a review of some Green Belt-level instruction and require no work on a Black Belt project during the course.

Schedule and Time CommitmentThe Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course is 100% online and instructor-led. It takes 10 weeks to complete. Students who successfully finish the course typically devote 45 hours to study, which includes about 25 hours of viewing video lectures and 20 hours of doing other coursework. Though the online format enables you to do your work when and where you want, there are weekly assignments and quizzes that must be completed on schedule. Instructors recommend that you plan on spending four to five hours each week studying.
Learning Tools and ActivitiesIn addition to the learning tools and activities that are part of all online Lean Six Sigma Certification, LSS Green Belt students engage in assignments relating to a case study that simulates a real-world project.
