The 10 Most Mind-Blowingly Stylish Music Videos of 2014

This year was a banner year filled with stylish music videos. It was a mix of artists flaunting their O.T.T. art-fashion game and stuff we can actually wear. From belted bra tops to stocking as pants, we’ve cherry-picked the ten best of the bunch for all your sartorial inspiration needs in the new year.

1. "GOOD BOY M/V" by GD X TAEYANG

It’s about time you lapped up some grooves at a glow in the dark warehouse party from the comfort of your own home. Look past the gun and gas mask props for the unconventionally severe streetwear looks. This is the most persuasive infomercial for the whole fashion sweatshirt thing.

2. "Touch" by Shura

This video for a pure song is misty like a bad throwback dream sequence, but you can still see what’s important through the smoke. The layered necklaces, the blazers, and the striped sleeves are just a bonus to the girly action. We usually hate Versace-looking prints on sweatshirts and scarves, but these are undeniably on point.

3. "I Got The Moves" by Habibi

They sound like The Waitresses, but you’d actually want to wear this stuff to a party. All of this is doable, from the leather jackets to the velvet scoop back dresses worn with ’50s bows. Even the dick teacher reading Playboy on the clock has colored sunglasses and an excellent paperclip shirt.

4. "Gimme Chocolate" by BABYMETAL

Shoulder pads, armor, and ruffles you can pantomime in.

5. "I Blame Myself" by Sky Ferreira

We get that real bad girls don’t wear blouses with lipstick smooches on them, but the glorious mix of glittery seamed stockings and cat eyes with tough wet hair and leather makes us want to cruise around with Sky.

6. "Chasing Time" by Azealia Banks

This choreographic nod to Banks’ idols has some top waffle-fabric overalls, a few pairs of bizarre stockings, an architecturally interesting belted bra top, and unexpected fingerless gloves. She’s striking.

7. "MØ" – Walk This Way

The girls are getting down in crop tops, patterned leggings, and knee socks, which might sound like your average athleisure. But that alien bubble braid and stockings as pants look aren’t. These alien looks just demands better varsity style of everyone.

8. "Video Girl" by FKA twigs

She’s inescapable for a reason. This electric chair scenario is still pretty weird, but we’re willing to deal with it if it means watching her writhe around in this perfect halter dress.

9. "Double Bubble Trouble" by M.I.A. & The Partysquad

There’s something for everyone: vintage Moschino, a team of women in subversive hijab featuring a blonde women, and flower sunnies. M.I.A. is nailing the top and bottom matching separates, and it gets even better once she’s suited up in a bright blue outfit covered in animals. Everything in this video should be sold or knocked off on Etsy.

10. "Out Of The Black" by Neneh Cherry feat. Robyn

Another one that’s heavy on the nostalgia. Aesthetically the scapbook effect is fun to watch, but we’re partial to the colorblock look and how easy this is to replicate without a looking nuts.
