The very word examination can give sleepless nights to many of us. Nobody likes to be put on the spot and have their value linked to the success or failure of a single activity that may go well or poorly depending on so many factors. More often than not we fear exams because we do not feel adequately prepared to face the examination. But with the correct preparation, one can prepare efficiently for the examinations. That is why proper planning is required for every student in order to succeed in the examinations. This blog talks about a few simple tips, through which students can come out with flying colors and give out a better outcome in their results. SFS Guwahati, one of the best private CBSE school in Guwahati with Integrated Coaching is very keen on delivering great results and for the very same purpose, and thus helps students to work on themselves by following the below-mentioned steps -

1.Study in segments –

It is always a good idea to study in segments i.e not for continuous long hours but to take short and long breaks in between. The idea is to study in chunks. For better brain function what can be done is, you can break down your study hours. For e.g study for 25 minutes initially then take a break for 5 minutes. Taking a break for 5 minutes and then getting back to another help you in being much more clear about the concept.

2. Explain your answers to others -

Explaining answers to a different person will help you in getting it clear to your brain, and highlighting the key points where you need to work more. Ask your parents, sisters or brothers to ask questions from you. Explain your answers to them and know how much is done because that would not only help in letting you memorize the answers but will also help in clearing the concept of the answer or the topic because when we explain a certain thing to someone, for that our own concept needs to be clear first in our minds.

3. Make Notes -

Making notes is one of the common tips most of the students follow and we also agree that this is one of the effective tips to clear the concepts. Make notes for the concept whatever you learn in the classroom or whatever you study. Go over your class notes within minutes of the class getting over. Notes really help in making your concept clear and it helps in saving a huge amount of time. When you make notes you pay attention in class and you listen to your teacher actively. When you engage with the concept in your classroom and question the concept it makes your understanding of the concept much more clear also you grasp the concept quickly when later you go through the same topic.

  • You can use a multicolored set of pens to make proper notes.

  • Feel free to make diagrams, flowcharts flashcards, and mnemonics to give your memory visual support for learning.

  • You can also try to record notes on your phone which you can listen to while traveling or before going to your bed.

4. Solve Sample Papers -

It is often said that there is no better practice than match practice. Solve few sample question papers each day, preferably from 10 AM to 1 PM, in an environment as close to the one you expect at your examination center. After you have solved the paper, mark yours as per the standards of marking. Practice answering those questions within the specified time period and check your answers against your school notes to make sure you got them correct. Also, you all can collect old question papers and practice the same.

The School Library of SFS Guwahati is well-equipped with all the basic previous year question papers where students can come and practice those in order to improve their board results.

5. Timeline –

This is also one of the most common tips followed by most of the students. There is no smarter tip than planning. Plan your week, plan your entire day even plan your last hour for your studies. Your brain becomes more productive when it knows what exactly has to do and for how long. Try to do an experiment for one week with different time table and observe which one is best for you. Which plan or timetable is making you more productive, stick with that timetable and see the result.

6. Practice the art of relaxation –

Exercise and meditation help improve concentration. Many of the athletes and sports professionals regularly employ meditation methods. Studies have found a direct correlation between concentration exercises (meditation) and the performance level of sports professionals. Meditation strengthens the mind, it comes under control and is able to provide effective guidance to the physical body to effectively execute all its projects. Psychological Exercises are a powerful way of improving concentration and improving mental strength.

So go for a walk in the park early in the morning before you start studying or spend 15 minutes meditating, adopting yoga poses that would make you ready for the day and make your mind peaceful, which will ultimately help you to prepare well for your examination.

7. Take care of your health –

Exams always bring stress, but too much stress can ruin your preparation. Don’t forget to take care of your health, food, and sleep. Good mental and physical condition is very important for the exam. After studying, take some time to relax your mind and body, eat well to build your energy, have a good night’s sleep and keep a positive attitude toward your exam.
