The video game film World of Warcraft is about two hours long, clocking at 123 minutes, according to IMDB. Director Duncan Jones has now revealed that the original cut lasted 2 hours and 40 minute, and explained what it would take for an extended version of the director's cutting to be released one day.
Jones has revealed the runtime during an interview in an interview with The Daily Beast. Jones said he'd hoped to include the Easter eggs within World of Warcraft that tied the film to his earlier films, Moon and Source Code The idea was discarded on the cutting room floor.
"If you've ever heard of Moon or Source Code, there's this extremely sweet, talented guy named Chesney Hawkes. He composed this huge, truly massive hit in Britain known as 'I Am The One And Only,'' Jones said. "I utilized the song as an alarm in Moon and also as for a ringtone in Source Code. I also asked him to compose one as bards for World of Warcraft."
"We were unable to make it into the cut. But maybe I'll manage to sneak it in to the Twitterverse... the singer has released a World of Warcraft -medievally version of his single and it's just amazing. Unfortunately I was the only one who thought it was hilarious."
As for whether or not there will ever be an extended version of World of Warcraft that contains this Easter egg and other further scenes Jones said it depends on the outcome of the film.
"There will be no extended cut unless the production does well," He explained in his tweet. "That is just the way it is."
World of Warcraft opened in international markets this week, earning $31.6 million as per Deadline. The US release will be on June 10 The film is not expected to make it to the top of the chart.
Jones also announced on Twitter that she also confirmed that a "troll raid" scene was removed from the theatrical version.
"Was too expensive to complete, and not directly enough in relation to the main plot, therefore it was cut off at the very beginning," he said.
