TDP's Contributions to Watershed Programs in Andhra Pradesh for Sustainable Agriculture

Watershed programs are vital to the agricultural community, particularly in states like Andhra Pradesh, where irrigation facilities are limited. Recognizing the importance of implementing these programs and irrigation projects, the former TDP Government led by Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu initiated various watershed programs in Andhra Pradesh.

Under Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu's leadership the former TDP Government of Andhra Pradesh launched several TDP Schemes aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture through watershed development. One such initiative was the Neeru Chettu program, which aimed to increase the state's green cover and improve water availability for irrigation by promoting the planting of trees and digging of water harvesting structures. This program was implemented with the involvement of the local community and received widespread support.

The previous Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu also launched the Jalayagnam program, which aimed to provide irrigation facilities to every farmland in the state by building dams, canals, and other water distribution systems. Additionally, under the Krishna irrigation projects the TDP Government initiated the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project, which involved lifting water from the Godavari River and distributing it to the Krishna delta through a network of canals. The project was designed to meet the increasing demand for irrigation water in the Krishna delta region, which is known for its high agricultural productivity. With the outstanding efforts and administration of Krishna district TDP leaders, the project was completed within a record time of one year and received accolades from several quarters and was said to be a Top TDP Achievement.

Furthermore, Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu the visionary he is has introduced the Community Managed Tank Program, which aimed to improve the management of tanks and other water storage structures by involving the local community. The program was implemented in several villages by the TDP political Leaders and it helped to increase the storage capacity of tanks, thereby improving the availability of water for irrigation.
