Mazda 2 Not Affected By FTA Changes
Many consumers have been made aware of some interesting pricing changes due to the Japanese Free Trade Agreement. The FTA changes are due to to be implemented later this month. However, if you are considering the new Mazda 2, Perth consumers may be a little disappointed that there are no pricing changes.
The FTA pricing changes were due to be implemented on January 15th. However, Mazda have applied pricing changes in line with the FTA changes from the 1st January. The finalised price reductions are a result of the JAEPA (Japan Australia Partnership Agreement). Mazda has recognised the consumer impact of these price reductions, so have introduced lower pricing on the affected models two weeks ahead of schedule.
The Mazda CX5, CX9, 3 and 6 models will all have a price reduction for 2015. The savings are between $403 and $963 for petrol models and $268 to $347 for diesel models. The amount of price reduction will depend on the model and diesel engine models will have price changes implemented over the next two to three years as the vehicle duty for diesel engines is phased in over this period.
However, with regards to the Mazda 2 Perthcar enthusiasts will not see price changes. This is because the brand new Mazda 2, along with the BT50 are built in Thailand and already have duty free benefits due to the Thailand and Australia Free Trade Agreement, which is already in effect. This is the main reason why all the models of BT50 and Mazda2 for sale already have attractive pricing.
Mazda Australia are confident that the savings from the FTA and the factory bonuses for all 2014 plate exit and runout models will provide amazing value for Mazda customers looking at the Mazda 3, 6, CX5 and CX9. However even without the Japanese FTA with the Mazda 2, Perth consumers will still be securing a great deal.
According to Martin Benders, Managing Director for Mazda Australia, the company wants their customers to benefit from the FTA duty price reductions from the beginning of 2015. The company are excited to provide extra value for customers and kick start the new year with "sharper pricing" across the majority of the Mazda range. The company were keen to not make their customers wait until mid month for the price savings and have made the duty reductions effective from January 1st.
Mazda have followed the lead set by Subaru with regards to announcing price cuts prior to the JAEPA finalisation. However, Mazda customers can secure themselves a great deal on a new vehicle for 2015 from the very start of the year.
