India have seen many social and political movements right from days of freedom struggle to era of emergency and recently in 21st century the Movement for Women Safety and various other campaigns of this kind. However, there is one social campaign which may have started recently, but still attracted and inspired millions of people across the country to participate and contribute. The people from every class and category have been participating in this campaign and giving their valuable contribution. Today, it has gradually but surely has become a National Movement. The name of this unique yet vital campaign is Clean India Mission or Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan.

This Cleanliness Campaign had been a great success in year 2014 and enhanced the Clean Up Drive among individuals. Last year, this outstanding campaign inspired individuals from different domains to get involved in one or another India Cleaning Activity, which is still continuing. Right from Prime Minister to Celebrities, Political Leaders, Sports Personalities, Social Activists, Corporate Professionals, and Residents, in short Citizens from every sphere, cast, community, and class have shown a great interest in this Clean India Mission and participated diligently by doing cleaning activities in their area or city. Even the various other countries across the world too have acknowledged India’s willingness and determination for making a clean, green, and dirt-free nation and promised to provide significant help and contribution to make this campaign successful.

The main reason behind the success of this campaign is that both leadership and common people of India have realized that although India is emerging as a super power on the world map, however, there are few basic aspects, where it still needs to pay attention and work on a large scale. Cleanliness is one such aspect that requires tremendous improvement and significant development. The Clean, green and healthy environment of a country at one end fulfills the parameters of being a well developed and great nation, on the other end attracts the tourists to a great extent. The tourists visiting from all parts of the world to see the wonderful monuments and cultural heritage of India, every now and then emphasize on the need of Clean and dirt-free environment here. It’s the high time that every citizen of India realizes this need and contribute significantly to Clean India Campaign by making his/her area, streets, city and ultimately the Country Clean, Green, Hygienic and dirt free.
