Hublot goes all out with items like new style often produce as companion items for their watches
One thing I like about Hublot is all the wild Hublot-branded accessories they come up with. More than your usually seen cufflinks and pens that other brands will often produce as companion items for their watches, Hublot goes all out with items like skis, a bicycle, and so on. This year Hublot has a very cool item courtesy of the its talented and highly specialized watchmaking division known as the wax replica watches (this group makes Hublot’s highly complicated watches, for example its new in-house tourbillon).
Another fantastic sports partnership for Hublot and a big win for Jean-Claude Biver, Hublot CEO. This splendid partnership between Hublot and Formula 1 follows closely on the heels of another high profile, but obviously much narrower partnership with football legend Maradona, as well as a spectacular showing at the Vancouver Winter Olympics by ambassador and downhill skier Bode Miller. As i said in my Maradona post, if there is one thing Hublot does supremely well it is signing athlete ambassadors. I talked about Hublot and the Miami Heat a while go here in an enjoyable article. First they produced a limited edition watch for Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade, then announced that they would be the official watch maker and timer of the Miami Heat, and here is the first Miami Heat watch. It is called the Hublot King Power Miami Heat Chronograph and will be produced as a limited edition of 200 pieces.
Inside the watch is a Swiss automatic Hublot movement. The skeletonzied dial shows elements of the movement in action and the piece has a unique rotor for the King Power watches. Limited to 200 pieces each, the watch will come in a rather neat looking basketball style box and each piece will come with a Miami Heat team jersey signed by Udonis Haslem. When is a watch like this useful? Honestly, I am not sure it ever is above and beyond appreciating the complexity of it all. In a sense, it is a metaphor about controlling time. The name of the watch itself is the "key of time. " If you can afford it, you can say that you hold the key to time - and what greater power is there than that? In terms of technical details and specifics on the watch - little is known thus far. Hublot is keeping tight lipped on that until March 2011. What I do know is that there will be something special that helps the green parts of the watch glow. The rest of it will be in black, save for the polished base plate of the dial.
The Hublot safe isn’t just a safe and a watch winder – but also a stereo. This seems to be a bit of a trend, where high-end "watch winder furniture" seems to include a stereo. It also includes an ipad. There is an ipad dock at the top of the safe that is used to control all of the safe’s functions as well as unlock it. Each of the winding modules is programmable, and you can control the stereo and other functions. Using Wifi you can control the safe with the ipad off the dock as well.
