Differentiating Tank Trucks
Tank Truck is a vehicle designed to transport dry bulk cargo, gasses or liquefied loads from one place to another. Manufacturers to transport their goods from the factory to the markets or to suppliers use these trucks. However, also commonly called as tankers, small businesspersons use such trucks to provide services to transport goods and materials of manufacturers to retailers or consumers. An advantage of using such truck is that they come in a variety such as pressurized or non-pressurized, designed for single or multiple loads to help meet requirements of different users.
Tank trucks are differentiated by their size or volume capacity. There are three types of Tank Trucks used for various purposes, which are-
- Heavy Duty: Heavy Duty Tank Trucks have a carrying capacity ranging from 5,500 gallons to 9,000 gallons, and a weight above 26,000 lbs. The dimensions of such trucks are huge as to help in carrying bulk of dry goods or liquids keeping in mind the safe transportation of such materials. These trucks are constructed with various materials such as aluminium, carbon steel, stainless steel, and fiberglass to give it durability. Example of such Heavy Duty Trucks are milk trucks, water trucks and concrete trucks used to carry large amounts of cement and other construction material. These type of trucks are commonly found in the market with either truck showrooms or with an individual willing to sell his Used Heavy Duty Tank Truck.
- Medium Duty: Medium Duty Tanker Trucks have a capacity ranging from 500 gallons to 4,000 gallons and weights below 26,000 lbs. These Trucks can be operated as trailer packages or as frame carrier trucks, which are used to carry cars or other machines and equipment. An example of this type of truck is mobile crane used to transport a number of cars together and garbage trucks used to carry garbage of multiple neighborhoods.
- Light Duty: Light-duty tanker trucks usually offer capacities ranging from 100 gallons to 1,000 gallons and can carry a weight up to 12,ooo lbs. These types of Tank Trucks are used to transport fuel, oil, and water. A common example of such trucks is the
