Lufthansa Name Change Policy: Corrections, Fees & Rules

Author: James Flying

Did you know that Lufthansa name change policy now allows free name corrections as of July 2024?

This is great news for travelers who notice errors on their tickets. However, there are specific rules you need to follow. Lufthansa Airlines name change guidelines permit corrections only before your departure time.

Only one name correction per person is permitted, and changing the traveling person is never allowed. The name on your ticket must exactly match your official document (passport or ID card).

If you notice an incorrect name immediately after ticket issuance, you have two options:

  • Void the ticket

  • Request a refund within the "grace period" (next calendar day)

While minor corrections are now free, major name changes like legal name changes or full name reissues still require applicable fees. Before ticket issuance, names can be changed easily without charges, but after issuance, some changes cost 100 euros per passenger.

In this article, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know about Lufthansa’s name change policies, from permitted corrections to fees and step-by-step procedures.
