Variety Is The Hallmark Of Piezoelectric Buzzer In 3 Aspects

Author: Irving Blair

Electronic equipments work in very interesting manner. Modern day electronics are more, fine tuned with better efficiency and smaller sizes. In the age of semiconductors and electronic signals, there is a very useful system of generating electricity. Although the concept of piezo electricity has been present for over a century now, it has only been a few decades since the concept of piezoelectric buzzer has been generated. Various products based on this concept have been designed and manufactured by various companies, among which the alarm buzzer is an important system. Buzzers operate with the piezo electric concept by click of a switch so that electricity passes through the element and a resonator is used to create the sound. A reverse phenomenon also works in the buzzer system, which is also utilised in various kinds of applications.

  • Working at different decibels – Variations in the piezoelectric buzzer are done by using these elements to operate at different decibels. This will enable their applications in different kinds of alarms with differing sensitivity. As per the requirement of the sound to be emitted, the resonator can be fixed which will deliver the required loudness. If larger decibel is sought, then there will be a selection of larger resonator or amplifier. There is also a method of reducing the sound by use of resistors, which can also add variability to the buzzers. Sometimes, there is a system of feedback control, which is having two different elements, connected with transistor, which will send signals from the smaller element to the larger one, thereby giving a resistor like effect.
  • Difference in circuit types – Another type of buzzer variation that is commonly used in alarm systems is the one with indicator and with transducer. In the transducer mechanism, there is an element along with a terminal. This structure simply consists of a casing, with element and the electrical points. But, in the indicator variety, there is the necessity to fit driving circuitry, so that there is the need to have another small equipment fitted along the buzzer. This kind of variation is quite common in automobile buzzers, and in alarm buzzer systems. With the indicator variety, there is ease of operation as driving circuit is already built in, although in this variety, there is loss of flexibility if any change is to be offered. For the transducer varieties, there is necessity to have external driving circuit, but changes can be incorporated due to the design.

Variations in use and sizes – Even, the usage of piezoelectric buzzer in different instruments and equipments is a better way of the variations in this kind of buzzer. While most of them are used for alarm sounds, the sound emitted is usually quite varied. In industrial units, the alarm buzzer can be quite big and resonates at very high amplitudes. For home appliances, the sound is usually quite less. Also, in these instruments, the shape and size can be quite variable.

In the modern appliances, piezoelectric buzzer can be an important ingredient. These are being fitted in different shapes and sizes, with varying decibels and for different purposes. Many instruments are nowadays being fitted with alarm systems, where the piezo electric concept is put to use, but its variability makes it superior to simple electric impulses.
