2015 African Fashion Week slated for Nigeria wins Glo sponsorship
Nigeria’s most empowering telecommunications company, Globacom, has been announced as the exclusive telecommunications partner and sponsors of the second edition of the African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) scheduled to hold in Lagos between Saturday and Sunday.
The two-day event, which would hold at the Oceanview Marquee and the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, will offer platforms for promoting ‘Made-in-Nigeria’ designs, whilst creating visibility and awareness for indigenous designers.
The shows will, in addition, provide a forum for promoting the work of African and African-inspired designers and fine artists globally.

"Globacom identifies with the objective of the organisers to promote emerging Nigerian designers within and outside the shores of the country. We will continue to be associated with the development of Nigeria and Africa’s rich culture and its works of art," the statement added.
It described the AFWN as an opportunity to showcase Africa’s rich cultural heritage and Nigeria’s fast rising fashion industry. It called on Nigeria’s fashion connoisseurs and others, who wish to be abreast of fashion trends in the country, to troop out in large their numbers to the venue of the event to experience the best of Nigerian fashion designs on the runway.
African Fashion Week Nigeria is a new initiative to support, showcase and promote Nigeria’s most innovative fashion talents, in a bid to move Nigerian fashion forward through the development of fashion businesses.
AFWN posits that the shows will enhance the reputation of Nigeria’s rising stars in the fashion industry and will be as significant as Africa Fashion Week London.
The organisers of the shows also said a series of activities and performances have been lined up to make the 2015 AFWN an exciting and memorable event, with over 100 top designers from the continent and beyond expected to showcase their designs and products at the show.
