2015 Toyota Sienna Named Family Car of Texas
Earlier this week, some 52 journalists voted on their favorite automobiles in 18 different categories at the annual Auto Roundup event held by the Texas Automotive Writer's Association. A total of 54 vehicles from different manufacturers were driven, tested and reviewed. Gaining popularity among judges, the 2015 Toyota Sienna claimed both "Family Car of Texas" and "Minivan of Texas" titles.
A favorite amongst critics was the interior. The newly-designed center console and dashboard offer intuitive controls as well as advanced multimedia features. The Driver Easy Speak system utilizes the minivan's audio system, allowing the driver to speak with everyone in the vehicle (including the back row). Combined with a Blu-Ray Dual View Entertainment Center, sporting a 16.4-inch widescreen, the Sienna offers a means to keep even the smallest of passengers calm and occupied no matter where they sit.
As for performance, the 2015 Toyota Sienna's 3.5-liter V-6 engine generates some 266 horsepower and 245 lb.-ft. of torque. Coupled with a standard six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, the Sienna delivers strong acceleration when needed. Unusual for the class is an all-wheel drive option, which adds even more control to consumers who live in areas affected by inclement weather.
Journalists were also impressed with the minivan's comfort. The Limited FWD grade comes standard with leg and foot support with its second-row Lounge Seating. Second-row captain's chairs come with dual armrests, as well as an easy release mechanism for chair removal. Duly noted was the adult-friendly third row, with ample leg room, thanks to forward-sliding second row seats. Adding to convenience, an optional power-folding third-row seat made the 2015 Toyota Sienna lead the pack in comfort.
Safety was also a decisive factor at the Roundup. Earning an overall 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 2015 Toyota Sienna quickly became a favorite in the category. One of dozens of features is the passenger airbag sensor, which deactivates if no occupant is present. Child seat anchors, traction control and tire pressuring monitoring are just a few of the added features. Decisive braking (with emergency assist) helps every driver avoid the use of its other safety features. For example, Sienna's eight airbags.
Widely noticed by critics were the many upgrades to the 2015 Toyota Sienna compared to its predecessor. The overall structure was improved by the addition of over 140 spot welds during assembly. NVH ratings were even further improved by moving the side mirrors outward (reducing wind noise), improved engine mounts, as well as adding more sound-absorbing material to the floor. The end result: a virtually silent cabin.
Considering the handsome design, up-to-date infotainment systems, layout, user-friendly controls and improved safety, the 2015 Toyota Sienna more than out-performed itself. Reviewers have come to an agreement that the Sienna is one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market, earning it two distinctive titles at the Texas Auto Writer's annual Roundup. The "Swagger Wagon" has definitely done it again!
